If this crap don't warm a few degrees this snow so beloved by some is going to become a solid block of ice. Was going to take mom out on a drive to see all the lights since she spent last Christmas in the hospital, but with the risk of falling on ice and the temps I doubt she'll be able to this year either. Typically an early big snow with extreme cold means it's here to stay since any sunny days will have the heat reflected away.
I just noticed as I went out into the Arctic wonderland that a string of roof lights has blown a fuse. Probably the wind whipping the lines around. It did it last year because of wind. I hate these newer friggin fused light strings and what perfect timing for one to go out.
I know some of ya like this crap, but I still say FU****G WINTER SUCKS DOG!!!!

North Shore. They charge a Dollar per person to see seven miles of lights. Then hot cocoa or cider are available. We missed last year, but it was worth it in prior years. Your dollar goes to adding on each year. Some rather unique scenes. Definetely worth it.

I expect Goodland to have more cold than us. They're normally cooler summer and colder winter. I've noticed alot of times that the temp difference, and snow amounts, could be dramatic just from here to Hoxie. I know on occasion Northwestern KS ends up warmer on a winter day, but it's not that often. And this cold while not abnormal a couple times through the winter, is well below our normal December highs in the upper 30's and lower 40's.

Idgits over here need to learn to drive for the conditions. On the way home from the kid's work, between I-70/Wanamaker and our little village on Hwy 75, we saw 2 collisions (or the recent remnants thereof) and 8 vehicles in the ditch.... that's within a 15 mile stretch.

We've still got several inches on the ground from the Christmas blizzard. We got another 4" or so over night and this morning. There are some places in my yard that have 8" and other areas with 13"...
Come and get it, all you want, free of charge! Someone suggested shipping it out COD to all my friends, but that would require me shoveling and boxing it up to send. I'm so over my love of shoveling snow, this year.

Suzy, no thanks, you can keep your snow. It's odd for Hays to be colder than Denver, but kinda odd for Topeka to have more snow than Hays too. My relatives in Southern MO are getting a few inches and Florida has gotta be freaking out with freeze warnings forecast for the Everglades. Hope it kills a few of those friggin pythons off.

Yeah Suzy i'm sick of this snow. I can't believe their predicting another 4 to 5 inches for ne Kansas plus the bitterly cold. Im wishing that I didn't wish for that white christmas because now im getting sick of this. Everyone here is accusing me of bringing the western kansas snow to the eastern part of the state. I'm just hoping they're wrong with the predicted lows of -15 on friday night and a high of 0.

Because it's something they live with all winter every year. They showed on the news once how teachers in Russia "conditioned" a bunch of 6 year olds by stripping them naked and dumping water on them outdoors in sub zero weather. They ran around giggling for awhile and then the teachers ran them all back inside. The Russians say they have less illness among the kids because of that.
In the US they'd probably charge the school staff with half a dozen different kinds of abuse. I was surprised they even showed it uncensored on the Wichita news.

I'm beginning to adjust somewhat by only wearing an extra long sleeve shirt instead of a coat when I go to work. It's still cold, but I can tolerate it more now. Maybe the Russians are onto something with that subzero skinnydipping.
