Home Lumber Company Closing

Home Lumber Company located on East 22nd St in Hays is closing this weekend. Too bad, they have been open for years. Remember when they were located on South Vine by the railroad tracks?

Many years ago, I did business with them from time to time. But the past several years, anytime I went to look for something or get prices, they acted like I was interrupting their day. So I quit interrupting. Hope others got better treatment.

your kidding. this is a shock, i always go there before i go anywhere else. guess that land will end up as another self storage outfit, why not there already is a fence around it. i remember when that spot was a pipe supply yard. so are they gonna have a big sale or what

I'm not sure when they first opened, but I remember them by the tracks for a long time.

Another sign of the times, with the big boys north of vine. It's will narrow down the field, which is sad. I like going there for the advice was always good when I had a project. Will they have a auction ?

This is a sad thing to see happen. This has been a trend that has been going since I-70 opened, first all the small towns in the area lost their local businesses to a larger Hays market and now the longtime Hays businesses are going under because of unfair competetion from larger businesses that get better tax incentives from the city. The locals don't get squat but a higher tax bill

I said something abou to a person in their early 20's and they had never heard of them.

I hated to see them close. I have only been in there a few times however they always had what I needed. Plus they knew their products.

Nothing pisses me off more than someone who tells you "this is what you need" and it is the wrong product. You go back to the store and THEN they finally get you someone that knows what you need.

I guess that is the price you pay for the lower prices in the big box stores...
