You might think twice before letting your daughter go to the door of a crack dealer if molestation is your only worry in the world. And that schizoprenic might just be the next Jeffrey Dahmer. I'll be damned if I can understand why nobody fears their kids having contact with any criminal or psycho besides a sex offender. You got any idea how many crack head gang members are the sex offenders who rape 12 and 13 year old girls? A hell of a lot of these molesters have other criminal backgrounds too that make them dangerous in multiple ways. They aren't all just Pee Wee Herman look alikes.

its not a bad idea...but on the other hand...the one thing that popped into my mind when reading this is..."how many ways of wrong can this go" I can just see copies being made and posted in innocent peoples yards as a 'prank' I think the best thing here will be common sense...dont take your kids to houses you dont know. They might not get as much goody but face it folks..the world changing...wont be long before you wont want to take them out at all. Look at all the 'Halloween Alternatives' that have popped up over the last few years.

Good point onecall. It'd be almost guaranteed that some kid would think it funny to take one and put it on the school principals house or something like that. And I still find it disturbing that so many see the sexual predator as the only big threat out there.

I remember many years ago there was an old man who tired of kids running through his yard so he ambushed them with a power saw blade nailed to a stick. He hacked one boy to death. But I do recall reading about a predatory man who lived about a century ago. Many kids in the area just disappeared over the years before he was caught. He was a very predatory individual who lured kids into his home. But it wasn't sexual predation. He just ate them.

I agree with onecall. If you don't know someone, just stay away. Don't depend on a sign or an internet list to protect the kids because only one of the many kinds of predators is on that list.

Stick to friends or at least well lit places where everyone knows the guy next door. Big cities often have Halloween block parties for the kids so everyone is out in the open streets. It's sad because I really like Halloween, but it brings out the crazies. Tell the kids never to enter a home they don't know. Be careful to check the candy too if it comes from a stranger. Though rare, there are documented cases of pins and razor blades in treats.

Think about the predators that haven't yet been caught. Do you want your kid to be the reason he gets a pumpkin next year.

Go WITH your kids. It is safer, and a lot of fun. I know many of you do, but more should.

There are predators every where. Our kids are only kids once....... Protect them! Go out with them and have FUN! Happy Halloween!!

The downtown trick or treating was fun last year. I hope it's as nice out this year. I think they are changing the Residence Hall tours back to the way they were, too. Going all the way over to the apartments was a little much for the smaller kids.

One other thing even for older kids is to go in groups. I went alone on Halloween even at 7 or 8 years old but I wouldn't recommend it nowdays.
