With what and where, Prairie Acres/near TMP or more like the college area or country club area? My mom is on the west side. She pays no attention to storm warnings, so it just makes me a bit nervous.

I hate the potential for trouble the Ellis area may be in if it just gets hot and dry and stays that way. There have been huge rainfall amounts all spring all over the state, but I don't think our entire spring total is over 2 inches.

Among all my logic and science I do believe there may be something in jinxes. It's kind of like having a bad day and saying "What else can go wrong?" Every time I've heard someone say that their day got worse.
There are reverse or "being too positive" jinxes too. Like how it seems that every friggin time we expect we should do great on a relic hunt we get hosed and the best finds always happen when we expect little or nothing. The Vortex Team probably believes in the being too positive jinx now too.

I find just the opposite is best. Every single time that I have a really good day, I know a very bad day is in the near future. Typically I never feel quite perfect. One day this winter a rare event took place. I felt great physically and very positive mentally like I was a healthy carefree kid again.
But I knew something was awaiting to make me pay for it. The next morning I woke up with the flu, followed by ear infection that lasted 2 months and then drained and caused a lung infection. No mam, I try never to be too positive.

I have never known normalcy. I was an outcast among my neighbors from my earliest memories being the only non-Catholic kid in the area, and to make matters worse my parents divorced when I was small which caused the parents of my best friend to forbid him playing at my house or vice verse. If I figure things will always stink as they do most days, it makes the special surprises that much nicer.

I left home and the town I lived in when I was 16 so those things from childhood didn't follow me. I found normalcy later in life...whatever that is to people. lol

Normalcy-State of being normal. Guess it all depends on your own definition of normal. I doubt I fall under most folks guidelines. Not a worry to me at all. I know where you are coming from Ratzilla. Our past does have a way of putting a slant on life.

Very true. I didn't fit the "norm" where I was, and never really have. But sometimes I'm pretty glad I don't fit the norm. I give Luke a hard time about the negative waves, but in my world that really is the way to keep my sanity. I've seen those with the ever positive outlook go nutty when the bad outweighs the good too much. When you expect to get shit on it not only keeps you alert, it also means the world can only improve.
I don't mean to look at the negative in a destructive way, but rather to just expect bad may always be around the corner and smile when the next turn brings good fortune. And bad luck may piss me off, especially when some jerks always seem to have good luck, but the only thing that really gets me down bad is when someone I consider to be a friend lets me down on purpose.

Back on the weather topic. Now I'm beginning to get a bad feeling. I know some of you would be delighted, but I'm worried the patterns might change too late and instead of rains keeping my garden going now, we may be battling one friggin ice storm or blizzard after another come winter.
Yeah Luke, I know. We could be buried in snow and wrecking our mufflers and suspensions on ice ruts and rotting our fenders out from mud and salt all winter and you'd be happy. But there ain't much water in snow. One snow around Christmas to set the mood, and the rest of the Winter 40 degree rains would suit me fine.

Wasn't you. But you are related to one of them that's done it to you often enough too. My recent lady friend is another. By on purpose I don't necessarily mean with malice, but with full knowledge they'd be letting you down.

My gauge showed .60 but I think that's wrong because I stood on the porch and watched and during the heaviest part of the storm the rain was blowing horizontal. I never get accurate readings when the wind is strong.

I'm guessing Ellis was closer to an inch. I stood there watching too much heavy rain blowing sideways. I remember a toad strangler once that all blew sideways and even though there was minor street flooding my gauge only showed 1/2 and inch. Gauges should be on pivots with fins so they move side to side and tilt with the wind. They'd just need a stop at about 45 degrees so not to go completely horizontal and dump.
