| It was great seeing a spring storm instead of the snow we have dealt with here in eastern Kansas. Its still lightning yet, i should have took some awesome pics of the sky earlier tonight. We missed the severe stuff here in Gardner but they got the hail and wind in North KC. | |

Went to the Hays High-Dodge City soccer game today. It was 73 degrees when the game started. By the time it was over, it was about 50 degrees with north wind at about 8000 mph. The first goal of the game was a corner kick that the girl hung in front of the goal and the wind blew it down and into the net. Perfect play for the weather conditions. HHS won, 3-0.

Their coach was a jerk, anyway. He got one yellow card for screaming at the referee and was really close to a second, which is an automatic ejection. I sure hope it's nicer in KC on Sunday. We froze on Easter last year at the Royals-Yankees game. Going to the Royals-Red Sox this time.

I was at the opening day game and it was 70 that day also. There were a few passing clouds but it still didn't keep me from getting sun burned on my face.

| They said on the weather channel that the jet stream is currently in more of a late summer pattern, and the Gulf is a few degrees cooler than typical this time of year which both hamper mesocyclone development. I expect things to pick up about the last week of April or early May and get hostile for a few weeks due to this also being an El Nino year.
I "think" we may not have excessive tornado activity, but possibly some very big ones. And the last time the East Coast had a really big snow year at the same time the West coast had flooding was 93, which was the same year the Central states including us, had heavy rains well into summer and flooded so heavily.
Or my guess may be wrong and it could be the hottest driest summer since the dust bowl. I expected a heavy tornado year last year and it just rained and hailed alot. Nature never uses a script.

| So how much rain did everyone get from this? Radar estimates show a small area just South of Hays had up to 4 inches. Alot of 3 to 5 inch rains in Rooks Co. running East to West of Plainville. My gauges both show .80 or 8/10ths of an inch if you prefer, in Ellis. | |

| More than one trailer park South of the RR that fits that description too. Once upon a time in the 70's the old Ball court was called a slum and there was alot of fuss about it. HDN even had an article or two about it. Might have even made TV news. But it was home..... Digging through the park dump looking for discarded Playboys and other lost treasures. Watching the hippies tend their "crop" down by the creek, and all those funny things hippies did. Albert coming round on rent day with his jug of shine getting dad drunk. Zapping Ball's 40+ herd of dogs with my BB gun and slingshot as they tore through the place. Ahh, those were the days..... | |
