There were many times in my previous job as a front desk attendant when people would bitch and complain. If I acted like he did trying to get a point across I would have been fired in a heart beat.
IMO: I don't care what type of job one has or the status one carries if someone acts like he does they should be fired. DITTO !!!! I have a friend I visit with and we have been discussing the wild bill antics. He thinks that nothing will happen as any type of punishment because that type of behavior is a standard among the academic world and it is considered the norm. He also he thinks that wild bills "prestige" as an educator will protect him from any repercussions. If my friend is correct about that, I think we as a society should be outraged that conduct like this is tolerated and in many cases awarded for being " a cutting edge educator and innovator". I think what that lady he mooned should have done was kicked him square on then ass and knocked him over. We need to be better than what was displayed on that video. We need to be able to make a point in an intelligent and civilized way and not throw a tantrum like a 3 year old. Sadly though, most likely nothing will be done as a reprimand, but if anything is done at all, it wil be a light slap on the wrist and he will be told to behave "wink wink" himself and when that spotlight is off the subject he will be patted on the back and told "Good job" so as to not offend his oversized ego. What a prima donna........... and of cousre now that this has come to light, wild bill cannot be reached for comment. I think he should come out of hiding and make a public heartfelt apology for the newsmediia and also post it on Youtube, as well as send written apolozies to everyone that was in the room the day that happened. Stand up like a man and take your lumps and learn something from it. Become a better person because of it.

I find this comment interesting. I thought they were both a pair of ass clowns in that video, except he was funny and she was just annoying. Is avoiding commentary that might PO your fellow women more important than the truth?
Why would a comment about the "loud mouthed broad" piss off women? ....Women have no license for misbehavior by virture of being born female. Her hysteria was pathetic. Women's standards should be as high as any man's. I think she should well be dealt the same penalties as he, a charge of disorderly conduct as well as conduct unbecoming a college instructor. Well because my comments probably would not have stopped there and Id have went off into a big anti-feminism rant and Im certain THAT is what would have pissed the women of this board off. That being said, I agree 100% that the female star of this video should also recieve some sort of ass chewing for her disgraceful behavior that day as well. On another note, why is it that the Hays Daily Snoooooze has not printed a word on this subject?

You can criticize Hill all you want, it doesn't offend me. What I don't understand is why some men think a woman shouldn't have an opinion, do they really want to spend his their life with a doormat? As for L2C and her need to hold back on feminist bashing, I guess she doesn't want to be represented by women in congress on women's issues (did you know insurance doesn't cover birth control but it covers Viagra, go figure) , she wants to work for less pay for doing the same job as her male counterpart and I guess she wouldn't care that she could have never voted had it not been for the early feminists. I have a whole list of freedoms early women fought for that she enjoys, but we're off topic so I'll cease and desist. But as women deserve same rights, again, they should be held to same standard of proper decorum and I'm glad to see the debate instructor that provoked Shanahan is being investigated too. I understand she's playing the race card now. Prejudice doesn't strike me as something Shanahan would be guilty of....

It seems each team is allowed to remove one judge out of five from the round. It seems that the beardo's team "struck" this woman because she had rated them poorly during previous rounds where she had judged.
Then, the other team made the argument DURING the debate that striking her was an enforcement of "white privilege." This team then won the debate. After the debate was over, there was some kind of heated exchange among the three remaining judges and one of them left in frustration. Right after that is apparently when this video begins.
I never did discern what exactly the debate was supposed to be about because the thread I found about it was too steeped in nerdy debate jargon. Lastly, Steinem, Im going to choose to not comment on your post outside of saying the following: While the womens movement helped women it also hurt them a great deal. I don't have my opinions on Hillary because she's a female. I have them because she's an unpleasant, corrupt, and socialistic one. I'm not going to argue the pros and cons of feminism here either, but I believe the reason viagra would be covered by insurance and not birth control is likely because viagra is a corrective treatment to an involuntary medical problem where pregnancy is usually the result of voluntary activity and can be prevented without medications.

Ya think? I have a feeling the "presumptive nominee" will be nothing more than that; Presumptive. I think that with as close as the polls have become, many of the super delegates will jump ship, over to her... But, this is off-topic. About Shanahan: my husband thinks there's probably a clause in his contract that states something to the effect that he must maintain a certain decorum while representing the university and if he doesn't, if he violates that clause, it's grounds for termination, regardless of tenure.

I agree, Zeke, but not as to why he won't get fired. He brings some fame to FHSU; positive or negative, it doesn't matter. His tenure is solidified more than it has ever been.

| well,, it took longer than some expected , but it would appear that pressure has been applied and the wild bill outburst on youtube has been removed. It's my guess that fast eddie and his lawyers forced it's removal thru some sort of legal wrangling , but whatever the case, it looks like it is getting swept under the rug and will soon be forgotton. out of sight , out of mind...... | |
