| There was a firetruck and an ambulance there recently. But there are many reasons to be there. They are doing a good job of keeping it out of the obits, also. | |

| There was a rather bizarre report the other day, but I don't know the outcome or reality of what was reported. No one was reported as dead, or died that I know of. | |

| There was a peculiar ambulance call to the water park about a kid "nearly" drowning. But I don't know all the details so won't guess. I'd think there'd be enough witnesses at that place for the story to be widely known. | |

| Link to info shown below. - Quote :
- Definition:
Dry drowning is a common concern for parents since the reports in the summer of 2008 of a ten-year-old boy who was reported to have died of dry drowning more than an hour after he had gone swimming.
In dry drowning, there is a spasm of the larynx (breathing tube) that keeps inhaled water from going to the lungs. Unfortunately, this spasm can lead to high pressure and fluid leaking in the lungs. Although the lungs don't fill up with pool water, they still fill up with fluid and cause breathing problems.
It is important to note that dry drowning likely follows some kind of submersion in the water where the child felt like he was drowning. It is probably not going to happen in a child who is simply swimming and doesn't have any kind of incident.
Parents should also keep in mind that the episode that was reported to be dry drowning in 2008 was actually a case of delayed drowning, as the child had inhaled some water while swimming.
Either way, the takeaway message is to watch your child for any symptoms, such as persistent coughing, difficulty breathing, or decreased activity, if he briefly chokes in the water or has an episode where he almost chokes but doesn't actually inhale any water. Examples: A child may die of dry drowning after one to twenty-four hours after getting out of the water. I learned something new today too, Thanks. Glad the kid is doing better.

| Mom contracted a very bad case of MRSA at HMC. She did not come in with it. Almost killed her. All they did was throw guesses at it and released her early. My guess is because if she died later, it would be tougher to pin on them. When it flared back up, thank God HMC ICU was full and they took her to Wichita. The care was %2000 better and she is still with us.
Go to Wichita, Denver, KC, anyplace else, blackie..

| Wesley has some of the highest approval ratings in KS. I have heard some say they liked the heart treatment center at HMC. And some have done well with joint replacements at Hays. But I can reccommend Wesley for sure. Wesley got my sister up and going when HMC had written her off as hopeless. | |

| So far respiratory issues at HMC have been what I've seen the least experience in. They think banning smoking on the property is a cure all. Why can't the PC idiots understand completely taking smokes away from a seriously hooked patient hinders recovery? No, I don't expect someone on a ventilator to be allowed smokes, but there ought to be one friggin spot outdoors on all that ground where they could permit it for mobile patients.
When my sis was at Wesley she said they were well staffed and that anyone who came in the room no matter how high and mighty their title would perform lowly tasks for her instead of just calling in an aide. One of her respiratory specialists even emptied her bedpan. But that was in more recent years.
I know an 89 year old man who just had shoulder replacement in Hays and his son said he's doing ok. His son has had both hips replaced at HMC and had no complaints. And I know of several successful bypass surgeries done there. But I've also heard of several misdiagnosis issues, and infection problems.
Garden City has dissappointed me more than any so far. One of my family was basically allowed to starve, they lost her walker, and someone on hospital staff stole her necklace.
