TMP and Hays High Soccer

Congrats to the TMP boys soccer team, who advanced to the state tournament for the first time in the school's history. They were defeated last night by Rose Hill, 4-1 in the 4-3-2-1A quarterfinals, bringing an end to their best season ever. Rose Hill (16-1) will now move on to the semi-finals against an undetermined opponent, as the other quarterfinal games will be played today. TMP finished the season at 12-7.

The Hays High boys made it to the 5A regional semifinal, where they lost to Shawnee Heights in a shootout. With the score tied 1-1 at the end of regulation, they played four scoreless overtime periods before the game was decided on penalty kicks, with Shawnee Heights winning, 4-3, in the best of five shots. Shawnee Heights (10-8 ) then defeated #1 seed Topeka West in the regional final by the exact same score. They will face undefeated, #3 in the nation and six-time defending state champion St. Thomas Aquinas (18-0) in the quarterfinals today. Hays High finished at 7-8-2.
