Do any of you know what brand of voting machines we use in Ellis County? Sequoia? Diebold/Premier? I'm not thrilled with some of the things I'm reading about these two.

What are the laws for making sure these machines work properly? Can we be certain our votes are counted as we cast them?

I know no system is going to be perfect. Would it be better or worse to cast our votes using paper ballots?

here is what needs to be in place..... a voting machine that will print out a slip listing who you voted for and a barcode the identifies you and your vote. after you have placed your vote it would print this info off for you to take with you. you would then walk over to a seperate computer with a barcode reader which would then pull up your info as listed on the barcode which at that time you would verify and re-confirm your vote. Then the info from the original voting computer database would be cross-checked with the info on the compter reading the barcode data for confirmation. simple.

It would track who votes for whom? That part doesn't sound so good to me.

They track you anyway, didn't you know that.

Now I am thinking that you are givin (depends on how many items to vote on of course) a black ball and a white ball. Put the black ball into the barrel for vote against the item and the white for voting for it. Then find someone that can count and let them have at it. Also needing not to be color blind in the looking for the right person that can count...........what do ya think ? I know we need more barrels ..........maybe something blue !

Political Privacy

Quote :
Political privacy has been a concern since voting systems emerged in ancient times. The secret ballot is the simplest and most widespread measure to ensure that political views are not known to anyone other than the voter themself--it is nearly universal in modern democracy, and considered a basic right of citizenship. In fact even where other rights of privacy do not exist, this type of privacy very often does.
