| Has anyone seen the teeny boppers on Vine right by Steinert Liquor boycotting puppymill pet stores? I was just going down Vine and seen them. I thought it was quite hilarious especially since there is the pet store right next to Steinert's. Those kids must have had a bad experience there, I bet they won't be there for long before the donut patrol puts a stop to it. | |

| there have been several bad experiences with both puppy places reported in hays, as long as the owner of the parking lot they are standing on doesn't complain the hpd really can't make them stop. | |

| I've seen them there before. It's like slider says, as long as the property owner doesn't complain and they aren't creating a traffic problem they are clear to go. | |

That "Pink Hair" and "Weird Haircuts" sure as hell will get your attention though, didn't it. Smart Kids, do something uncommon that makes the people driving by notice you, Rule #1 in Protesting 101.

| Getting noticed and being taken serious aren't the same thing. You can put up a sign but getting people to read it are 2 different things.
I personally wont take the kid serious. But hey, what ever draws attention I guess. Fits the whole any publicity is good publicity regardless if it is good or bad.
Does that place on Vine even sell puppies/dogs? I think I heard that they don't.

| And the sign says "Long-haired freaky people need not apply" So I put my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask him why He said you look like a fine outstanding young man, I think you'll do So I took off my hat, I said "Imagine that, huh, me working for you"
It's not right, but that's a society thing. It's at all levels. Why do people where suits (or look nicer) when they go in for job interviews? I hate that I have to wear a tie and what it is perceived to stand for, but I understand why its required.
I'm not calling you out Nitro, but if a white trash looking women with 5 children hanging on her comes into the store, MY thoughts would be one of dread and not wanting to deal with her. MY thoughts would be that she isn't going to know much about what she's in the store for. Maybe that is why I'm not in retail.
Take someone in a "professional" position like a broker at Waddell & Reed or Edward Jones, if you went in to invest $50,000 and the person walks out with pink hair, baggy clothes, and big ear lobe gauge, would you take them as serious as the "standard" looking investment broker. I of course realize that this might be a bad example in today's economic meltdown, but I hope you would get the point.
And when I say You, I'm not saying Nitro or Slider or any one particular person.

Does that place on Vine even sell puppies/dogs? I think I heard that they don't. So you dislike the Messenger's appearance so you ignore the Message? That is really a hard stance to defend. So your kid comes home and has dyed their hair, do you ignore them? That is logically waht you are trying to say. Oh, yes the store on Vine street sells puppies. - lilchefed wrote:

And when I say You, I'm not saying Nitro or Slider or any one particular person. Man, where do you start on these two. First off, just because of a person's outward appearance you have judged they don't have the intellegence to know waht they want? How do you know that that very person may of had a very nice job, but do to losing it and the resulting lack of funds they had to give up their former way of life and the "Trailer Trash Look" as you put it is what they are forced into as a byproduct of that misfortune.
Talk to any Social Worker in larger cities, many "Homeless People" were at one time strudy hard working people that due to circumstances beyond their control lost everything. A lot of trailer trash people as you call them aren't dumb as rocks, I have seen first hand many of them that could repair a vehicle, appliance, or other things better than a company trained service person, and do it quicker and the repair be more reliable than the same repair a factory trained repair shop.
Whether a person looks a freak as you state in your Investment Broker scenario has no bearing on whether the person is qualified as an investment broker or not. It your prejudice that says they are stupid or don't know as much about it as the dick in a suit. The dicks in suits have killed this country's economy. A lot of those suits were the ones, Bankers, Lawyers, Doctors, Investment Brokers etc that used to show up in the BMW's, Mercedes, Rolls Royce's and Bently's and then get higher than a proverbial kite at those Greatful Dead shows years ago. Micro Buses were frequently outnumbered by the luxurious cars of success!!
So much for that theory of a suit making a person better than one in your so called freak clothes!

Wow, that is amazing. I would surmise that you then subscribe to the notion that your Intolerance of those who don't conform to your view of what they should look or act like to what you percieve to be "actual normal folk" and then your unproven Ignorance of the facts that maybe those not so "normal people" may just be smarter than you, you simply just are better than them without giving them the benefit of the doubt or actually confirming their ineptitude by your arbitrary standards?

I could counter point all of that, but why. I'm not trying to make you conform to my view nor do I care if you conform. I am guilty of prejudging people based on their looks and I at least admit to this fault. You are judging me based on a few points that I have made on this board, yet you don't really know me. I am not ignorant of these facts, if I was, how could I admit to them. I could also argue that these are more society standards and not really arbitrary, but yes Normal is abstract and is based on a person's point of view. Each person's view of normal will be different. So I am free to use my definition of normal as I feel, same as my view of freaky, weird, etc.

Just remember, my initial point was, Which of these guys would you take more serious? Depends on the advice. Am I.. A) Learning to program my car stereo? B) wanting to embezzle someone's retirement? C) trying to fix my computer? D) attempting to score an 8-ball of cocaine? E) wanting directions to the local police department? I do believe that either of these gentlemen could potentially answer these questions. Who is to say that Baldy doesn't look shit-heeled after his weekend benders or that tub-o-lub can't take a shower and put on some nice clothing. I am a tattoo covered long sleeve wearing business man. It has years ago ceased to offend me that I can go to a nice restaurant after work and get "prime seating" but when I go back the very next day with my arms exposed I am escorted to the rear booth every time. Oh yes, good people, the "back of the bus" still exists. I have no qualms with it. It is what it is. Being in retail, however, you should never, ever judge anyone by outward appearance. You never know an individuals financial circumstances. If someone came to your business, chances are that they have arrived to give you money.

| I know the store owner's kids and one of them was telling me that the protesters actually bring in more people because they didn't even know that there was a pet shop there. So I don't think it's doing any help by saying they are a puppy mill. You just need to investigate where the puppies come from. | |
