| I like a Bud myself, but I always did like variety, and always did like the ales.
Page 4 now. If anyone gives a crap my last brew review is at the bottom of page 3.

| Boulevard Single-Wide IPA.... Kind of a floral/pine/catpee aroma. Not bad for a cheap IPA but not spectacular either. Bitterness is prominant, but the malts are noticable. Decent for cheap IPA.
Avery India Pale Ale.... Very light aroma that's hard to describe. Maybe kind of a sweet bread dough/alcohol. Not the usual strong pine tree, green grass, citrus smells of an IPA but they are there in subtle fashion. Taste is IPA but smooth and mellow with a nice hop afterbite. I guess I can give er 4 polycarts.
By the way.... Do NOT use Pine Sol or Lysol cleaners right before trying any new kind of beer or ale. It sure confuses the sense of smell.
And for those who dine and drink rather than those of us who just drink for a buzz, strong and hot spices go well with IPA's. Forget delicate dining because you'll never taste it.

| The husband's concoction is almost done cooking. He tasted it last Friday (a week early) and said it tasted like beer. It sure smelled like it.
About a month ago, I tried Amber Bock. It wasn't bad. I actually drank the whole bottle, where usually, one sip of beer is enough for me.

$8.00 hotdogs? Yeah. We froze our asses off at the game yesterday, and I broke my hand shielding Oz from a foul ball off the bat of Yankees third baseman Cody Ransom ("Who?" you may ask? That's right, he's GayRod's replacement.) The ball actually went off my hand and hit a kid a couple of rows in front of us in the face. But he's a Yankee fan, so it's all good. I think the dogs were $6.00. Barbeque sandwiches are $6.50 to $9.00. We opted for Dunkin Donuts on the way to the stadium and Hereford House after the game.

That translates to $7.25 for a glass of bubble water or near beer. A little more than that will buy a 6 pack of decent Lager or ale. This is why I don't care for pro-sports. It's about the dollar, not the game.

| Hey, that's right. I almost forgot this is a beer thread. I used to drink mostly Bud. Still like it too, but as much as it costs I figure I might as well drink the more exotic stuff. I'm sure a cool Bud on a hot night will still be nice though. | |

Many beers, typically none domestic unless I'm hosting a gathering of mass quantities.
The Oatmeal stout and Hefeweizen I had at Gella's the other day were mighty tasty brews.

| Just one for the LMAO file..... Miller Lite is now announcing they add hops "3" times. Common comments to be seen are "What do they do, dip one hop flower in a barrel 3 times?" First we start off with Budwieser Ale and Michelob Pale Ale trying to compete with the hop heavy microbreweries and having limited success. So now Miller Lite trys hopelessly and quite pathetically to convince hop afficianados that they actually do use hops in their fine pee water. Maybe Coors Light needs to get in on this. "Coors Light. We use the most hops you'll ever see in a bucket of water". Or maybe "Coors Light. The beer of hop loving 13 year old girls everywhere." Why not just tell the truth here? The big brewers want you to be able to guzzle massive amounts of beer they make with limited cost to them. Taste is not their goal. I can drink the Budwieser Ale and Michelob Pale Ale, but just about any micro-brewery will produce a better ale. | |

The Oatmeal stout and Hefeweizen I had at Gella's the other day were mighty tasty brews. By no domestic, do you mean the big names? Alot of the microbreweries in the US produce good brew. I wish Gella's would do up a double or Imperial IPA or a hop heavy barleywine. I meant domestic in the generally accepted sense. The Millers and Buds of the world. Most of my favorite beers such as Dragon's Milk Ale out of Holland, Michigan or damn near anything from Rogue in Newport, Oregon. It takes a true snob to deny the brewing powers of the American people and I love many of them. In Fayetteville, Ar, there is Brewski's Draft Emporium which has well over 100 beers on tap. I know there is nothing in Hays that can even compete with 20% of that. Other than Gella's is there anywhere that has anything better than piss on tap?

Other than Gella's is there anywhere that has anything better than piss on tap? American brewers tend to go overboard on ingredients, but that's good. There's been an American brewing revolution in the last 10 years or so. I'd like to see that Fayetteville place. I'd be like a kid at Christmas. Around here I'm not sure what all is on tap. Gella's is the only one making their own here. The coffee place on Elm has Guiness, and there's been different places that have had imports on tap, but I imagine the common beers are what most have. I just go to the liquor stores and if they don't have what I want I ask if they will try to get some. Some of the well reviewed microbreweries I hear of are still just local to their areas and I can't get it here. But with the fast growing popularity in Hace of the microbrews I expect things will be changing.

LOL.. I knew I remembered someone here liked it. On a hot day I can down one, I just find it amusing that the big name brewers are trying to promote their lightly hopped beers to appeal to hop addicts. Did you know that the hop flower and the female cannabis flower are very similar? I havn't seen proof yet, but they claim you can graft the two plants and produce psychoactive hops.

| I notice Gella's has a new summer brew out, but I havn't tried it. There's one coming out called Red Beard named after the pirate. According to Gella's website Red Beard goes on tap Thaarrrsday June 18th. Gella's describes it as having "intense hop character". We shall see.... | |
