| I live in a mobile home also and when this happens to me it's usually in the bathroom. The water heater is right outside that room .I've had good luck with using a 1800 watt hair drier. It might take a little while but it's always worked for me.. Good luck | |

I used to do that at the end of my shift when I worked nights in Bunker Hill. All that it really takes is slow drip. As long as the water is moving . .

Most of the time trailers freeze up right where it comes out of the ground unless it's by the water heater. Aim any small heater that direction and it should get it. A $10 or $15 Walmart special will work. Even if the heat only hits part of the pipe the warmth will spread. I've used heat lamps, paint stripping guns, and hair dryers too. Be careful of melting plastic or starting fires though.

| If your putting this under your house do not leave unattended because frozen pipes will not be your only problem. If your using it inside make sure there is plenty of ventilation because kerosene heaters produce carbon monoxide.. | |

| what do you mean by unattended? we are home - but I am not going to sit out there and watch it. It is outside under the house, and the other end of the trailer is vented. | |

| Should be no serious monoxide issues under a trailer if it's vented. I knew a family that ran one all winter long in their living room, and our grandparents used kerosene lamps and heaters all the time. If you follow directions, use grade 1-K kerosene, and the house is not totally airtight, they are pretty safe even indoors. | |

| Give it awhile and if it thaws shut the heater down and you should be fine. Just keep water dripping after that. | |

With all due respects to my friend Ratzilla, I would not heat with a petroleum product anywhere near my house. Let Buff take care of it, J.

How is it going? If you need anything let me know. I can let you come over here for awhile if you need too so you don't have to spend more money!

When my son was a baby, his dad had a kerosene heater in his trailer house. We were there often and never had a carbon monoxide issue. NB, kerosene stinks. That's probably what you're smelling. info on kerosene heaters

| If your water heater is located outside you house behind a door you might try directing the heat toward it. That seems to be where most freeze-ups happen. If you have already tried this all I can say is be patient and good luck.. | |

| Glad you got it. I figured it was the main line. That's where I usually had troubles. Don't worry about the kerosene smell. I've breathed in diesel smoke with very little effect and a kerosene heater is much safer. | |

Why would a water heater be located outside the house? Sorry, bad description. There is a compartment on the front of my home which is where my water heater is located behind a vented door. I have to go outside to get to it.
