| Just drove by the donut store on 27th street and it is closed. When did this happen? Also, does anyone know what they are building on 27th street next to Edward Jones? | |

| Thats sad. I really loved the cinnamon rolls they made using the recipe from Gabels bakery. I grew up with those rolls and will miss them a lot. I will say this.... they were much better when Galen & Annette Herman made them. The last people just weren't doing something right with them, they weren't as good as they used to be | |

When the "Old" HHS existed, we had an open lunch hour. It wasn't really long enough to go to McDonald's, although some did, but we always found time to go to Gabel's Bakery. It was just a walk across the field. OrangeSherbet reminded me of the name since I could not. I liked the caramel icing with the nuts on top. Ugh . . . . . doughnuts . . . America's Valhalla . . . or maybe it's just ridulous creations on "High Fructose Corn Syrup."

I don't remember his name. He opened his office a year or so before we moved from Salina. There was an article in the Salina Journal, about him, when he opened. I'll see if I can find it.

Anyone know what's going on with this? I have drove by several times and it looks totally deserted?? Given the fact that 90% of all new restaurants fail within the first year, would you open a new place in the current economic climate?

go figure.... I think what killed that shop was the quality of the goods. We ordered a cake from there for my nieces 18th birthday 2 years ago and it was horrible. The decorating was something you'd laugh at on Cake Wrecks (http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/) and I ended up having to make her a different cake(I don't decorate much anymore, my hands cramp too badly). We had gone in that week(before picking up that cake) and ordered a 1st birthday cake for my daughter, too, and she was really off-putting about what she could and couldn't do. I ended up canceling my order with her after the disaster my sister got.

Whoa.. that's way off topic. So is this. •Pay those dentist's bills! 1. In October, a 58-year-old patient accused the Rush Green Dental Practice in Romford, England, of injecting Novocain in preparation for an extraction but then refusing to pull the tooth until he had handed over an additional 30 pounds ($47) cash. (The patient had to go home to get his ATM card, according to a Daily Mail report, and did not make it back until the Novocain had begun to wear off.) 2. Police in the Bavarian town of Neu-Ulm said they were investigating a dentist who allegedly barged into the home of a 35-year-old patient in September, tied her hands, forced her mouth open and removed dentures worth the equivalent of about $500 because the woman's insurance company had declined to pay. http://www.readingeagle.com/article.aspx?id=113990
