Just drove by the donut store on 27th street and it is closed. When did this happen? Also, does anyone know what they are building on 27th street next to Edward Jones?

Stacy Seibel attorney and Darrell Beam dentist moving into new building being constructed on east 27th. Max's Daylight Donut closed but I noticed the building already marked SOLD.

What about what WAS left of L-K Dairy?

Thats sad. I really loved the cinnamon rolls they made using the recipe from Gabels bakery. I grew up with those rolls and will miss them a lot. I will say this.... they were much better when Galen & Annette Herman made them. The last people just weren't doing something right with them, they weren't as good as they used to be

What we need are AFFORDABLE dentists. Not another high priced dentist which Im willing to be this one will be.

There was a doctor in Salina who didn't accept any insurance, private pay only. He kept his fees low because he didn't have to pay for office staff and equipment/software, for all the different insurance billing crap.

When the "Old" HHS existed, we had an open lunch hour. It wasn't really long enough to go to McDonald's, although some did, but we always found time to go to Gabel's Bakery. It was just a walk across the field. OrangeSherbet reminded me of the name since I could not. I liked the caramel icing with the nuts on top. Ugh . . . . . doughnuts . . . America's Valhalla . . . or maybe it's just ridulous creations on "High Fructose Corn Syrup."

I don't remember his name. He opened his office a year or so before we moved from Salina. There was an article in the Salina Journal, about him, when he opened. I'll see if I can find it.

I did. Great cinnamon rolls, the chile was good too.

Getting back to the original topic about the donut shop on 27th I heard that a sub sandwich business is going in. Brackney Construction gutted the place and repainted the outside.

I heard it actually is some sort of bakery of fresh breads that sells subs among other items but who knows maybe just another rumor.

They played musical buildings for awhile and apparently TCBY lost.

TCBY also used to be located in the Eagle business plaza on 27th St west of Hall.

Yep, 3 different locations, all of them went downhill. Altho the one out in the Eagle Business Plaza lasted the longest I believe.

Maybe the building should be turned back into Mr. Burger!!!

I don't go to the ones that are here. I'm a fan of them "ugly greasy foods". I might like to see a beer specialty store though with nothing but a couple hundred choices of beers available. And if you could buy smokes there and take out Chili dogs, thick greasy burgers, and stuff like that at reasonable prices next door I'd only need to make one stop. Oh and the greasy burger place would need to have good Colombian coffee that's hard to see light through too.

I think what killed that shop was the quality of the goods. We ordered a cake from there for my nieces 18th birthday 2 years ago and it was horrible. The decorating was something you'd laugh at on Cake Wrecks (http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/) and I ended up having to make her a different cake(I don't decorate much anymore, my hands cramp too badly). We had gone in that week(before picking up that cake) and ordered a 1st birthday cake for my daughter, too, and she was really off-putting about what she could and couldn't do. I ended up canceling my order with her after the disaster my sister got.

There has been activity ( workers) there in the past several weeks.

I am very Kasighted on account they are supposed to be makin sandwiches. Goodcents bread is to big and doughie and subway is nothing like it use to be. AND for gods sake put more lettuce on! Kryst!!

Don't forget about the high inflated prices at Quiznos. I wish they would put a Planet Sub in Hays.
