| This will most likely be ignored by the IOC and accepted by the US. Why? The same reason that the president went to China in lieu of skipping the opening ceremonies in protest of Chinese government human rights violations. The same reason he criticized the Chinese, but not really, in his comments at the opening ceremonies.
Because the Chinese are such nice people.
Okay, maybe not. I guess it could be that the Chinese own our national debt. Why is that important? Given their obsession with Kobe Bryant, let me put it this way. Anytime they feel like it, they could turn into Kobe and our economy would be the blonde desk clerk bent over the couch with cheeks spread wide.

Back in the 90s, we signed on to GATT, which is the global extension of NAFTA. It was ratified by the Senate and signed into law by Bill Clinton. But it wasn't a Democrat thing or a Republican thing. The only national figures against it were Ross Perot, Jim Traficant and Pat Buchanan, and they were painted by the press as nuts. After all, GATT would raise the standard of living in the Third World. Yeah, right. GATT, in effect, gives the Chinese access to our market, unfettered by any restrictions due to human rights violations. In fact, GATT makes it illegal under international law to impose any restrictions of this sort. And ignorant Americans love it. Always low prices. Always. Never mind that your kid's toy was put together by a kid too young to play with it. It's cheap. Don't worry that your shirt was sewn by a political prisoner who was later executed so his organs could be sold to rich Japanese. It's a global economy, baby. Biggest sale of the season. Who cares if almost nothing is manufactured in the United States anymore. It's all good. Have another DVD player. Why do the Chinese own our national debt? Because we let them.

Because we let them. Thank You. This is why I boycott Wal-Mart. I'm tired of good American jobs being sold out in order to save a buck which funds foreign nations to buy out the U.S. You choose, but IMO, FUCK WALMART!

| I 100% respect your right to boycott, but I have to go where the price is lowest. Just a financial fact of life for me. | |

| luv, If I may call you that, I do not expect anybody to boycott that place other than myself. It's a personal choice based on my own opinions. But that will change soon, when we all end up working there. I steal this from you..... BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! | |

See any correlation there? The American people were sold a bill of goods. In reality, GATT and NAFTA have lowered the standard of living for most Americans. And 7 cents an hour won't raise the standard of living for any Chinese second grader, no matter how many Nike Shox she can produce in a single day.

| I had a good laugh the other night when i gave a friend a ride home. this person is "into" all things Harley Davidson. I noticed a rather flashy silver belt buckle and asked to see it, on the inside was the inscription; "made in Taiwan". Seems everybody is doing the cheaper is better thing for financial reasons, from the individual to the "American" corporations. As jobs are lost in our pursuit of the "personal bottomline" we put more and more of our fellow Americans in prisons and on the welfare rolls, all because we think it's actually "more financially sensible" to do so; but because we don't directly see our wrongful thinkings effect, we are deceived by it's immediate impact. The socio-economic impact of our behaviours will be the undoing of our society. Harley Davidson makes promotional items because they are almost assured that X number will be purchased for their "collectible" value and increase their profit margins. That they would rather dedicate themselves to the "gods of profit" and buy pewter belt buckles from Taiwanese slave labor, over the well being of at least a few American families, who might find in that casting job a sustainable life, calls very seriously into question their repeatedly stated claim to any part of the "American Heritage". We are actually a nation founded on our principles of compassion and respect towards others. So when you walk into Wal-Mart energized by those "low everyday prices" and outstanding good deals, or buy that harley logo for its "nostalgia" remember that a considerable amount of their employees live off your taxes in the form of health care for their children through the state, and food stamps. It may seem like a good deal for you, but the employee that works 40 hours a week to eek out a survival that must be supplemented by government assistance might feel otherwise. if you had any inkling of how much it actually costs you, you might too. | |

| glad I stopped shopping walmart many many years ago. I can buy anything walmart sales anywhere And still pay a low price for a better quality of product, sometimes I may have to drive 30 minutes but that 30 minutes of drive time is far better then the fight for isles and checkout lanes at all holy walmart. | |
