Hays crime rate is among the state's lowest

Just read in the HDN that Hays has the second-lowest rate of property crimes and overall crime. Also the fourth-lowest rate of violent crimes. This for the entire state of Kansas, as measured by the rate of crimes per thousand population.

Compared to similarly-sized communities, Hays crime rates are among the state's lowest.

This is great news. Any ideas as to why the crime rate is so low in this area?

Cause its not reported to us fellow Haysains!!!

I think this is really cool, but I also think that a lot of crimes are not reported either. I can think of several times that I have not reported stolen merchandise or something minor taken out of the back of our pick-up.
