Subject: Loss of a great drag racer and a friend Sat Jun 21, 2008 10:56 pm
I used run run the Division 5 of NHRA races and have talked with Scott Kalitta numerous times. Scott died today at Old Bridge Township Dragway in Englishtown, NJ. I am posting the video of the crash but it is VERY GRAHPIC

Drag racing is very unforgiving when things go wrong. Hope his family wasn't there.

His father was his car owner and was on the starting line. His wife and children were not there

I'm sure his dad knew it was always possible, but still a shame he had to witness it.

Everyone who has a family member that races knows it can happen. I'm sure that it was hard to watch, I'm sure that the entire family is struggling and grieving. My heart goes out to them.

This is true. All racers at some time must come to the fact that they may die driving.

I was at the races in Salina one night, many years ago and one of the favorites got killed. I think that's why I have such a hard time going to watch my dad race.
