| They try to get graduation attendees to avoid cheers, applause, and yelling here too, but it's not just because of the disruption. Many students will get wild applause and a few get total silence. That sucks for those kids. | |

Quiet pride vs. "I can't believe the kid actually graduated" exhuberance?

Quiet pride vs. "I can't believe the kid actually graduated" exhuberance? In some cases that might be very true.

| I just saw the link and saw they are charging disorderly conduct.
Disorderly conduct. Disorderly conduct is, with knowledge or probable cause to believe that such acts will alarm, anger or disturb others or provoke an assault or other breach of the peace:
(a) Engaging in brawling or fighting; or (b) Disturbing an assembly, meeting, or procession, not unlawful in its character; or (c) Using offensive, obscene, or abusive language or engaging in noisy conduct tending reasonably to arouse alarm, anger or resentment in others.
Disorderly conduct is a class C misdemeanor.
I guess they are trying the disturbing an assembly part. I can't imagine that sticking because they weren't cheering to alarm, anger or disturb others or to provoke an assault.
Classic case of taking things to far.

| It suits me fine if they require silence. Each time there's alot of cheers the speaker stops and graduations are too long and boring as is. | |
