I agree. A few years ago, I had the opportunity to visit the beaches of Normandy as well as the American Cemetery. No one said a word as we were walking through the cemetery. | |

| I knew a couple D-Day veterans. One was my uncle, the other was a combat medic. They both started on D-Day and ended up at the Battle of the Bulge. My uncle was named Kleinschmidt and ended up in a prison camp guarded by a German sergent with the same last name, so he said that helped him. The combat medic I knew didn't much like telling about any of it. The world was a bitch to live in then. | |
