| I wish I could have made some kind of thing that would include the music of Led Zeppelin's "Ten Years Gone." But here are a few for what it's worth. I took this first shot through a telescope I had with an Olympus mount. I was using an OM-1 at the time and I sure wish I still had it; burgled in Lawrence. Still, taking this, I burned a hole in my shutter screen. Had to send it in and have it fixed. The family dog at the time. A lovely Lhasa Apso running toward her bud. Same Lhasa Apso, "Misty," when she was young. I heard that Senator Dole was coming in at the Hays airport. I stood outside the gate, well-wishers inside waiting for him, to take a picture. He deplanes, gets to the inside gate next to me, a stupid, clueless, teenager with a camera, and he looks at me and asks, "In through here." To which I reply, "Yeah, they're right inside." He goes in and the cheering starts, which was cool. Not, "yes sir," not, " yes Senator," but (in your best dumb-guy, immature voice you can muster,) " yeah, they're right through there," as my finger points the way. So, after I overcome my embarrassment (yeah, even then, I knew what a dumbass I was) I walked back into the airport past the cheering crowd (still, a very cool scene), went out to my car and went home and developed and printed this picture. Back in the day, there was some story about an abandon old priest's house around the Victoria area, rumored to be guarded by a brother on a farm nearby. That's all we had to hear. So a bunch of us went out there one evening to explore the haunts. The man had a painting on his shed of an Angel and the Devil fighting; wish I knew where that picture was. Anyway, the picture is of that land. I took the negative I developed, exposed it to another piece of film and made a positive. I printed that, which was a negative on paper, and the picture below turned out. I was surprised as heck that it even turned out. I used a Kodak film called "High Contrast/Copy," which helped the effect a lot. So while I wish it was only Ten Years Gone, . . . it's thirty. | |

Oh I don't know. I really don't think Bob Dole is that creepy. I think I remember the priests house. Some of us went there very intoxicated many moons ago. Didn't bother me but it did a few of the group and we had to leave. Does anyone recall an old house or church on about 15th street just east of Vine about a block? I lived in the 1300 block of Custer during the 60's and it was already abandoned. I always thought it was haunted.

Wowza, I think I know the spot that you are talking about. Does it have an oil pump behind the house?

Thanks, wilky. A long time ago, though. I haven't had that darkroom in quite a few years.

I just don't remember, SG. Now that you mention it, it sounds vaguely familiar.

There was one guy in our group who was on edge. He went into the house in front of me. I waited until he was a few steps inside and then slammed the door shut. I wish I would have had a shot of his face while he was rocketing out the door. I was laughing too hard to take a picture.

The hubby used to be a pumper 20 years ago and that was on his route to check each day. Very eery feeling around that place! If the truck broke down at all, it was always right after leaving the property!

It was at the same time as the Priest's house, with the same type of film with the same process as the house. Some of you may have to explain what "film" is to your kidalingos....... Kudos, to you SlumberGirl. By the way, your avatar is beautiful. Gotta tell ya, I sure wish I could find that Angel fighting the Devil on his shed. Paint peeling badly, and very faded, and that was thirty years ago. But I was using that Kodak High Contrast\Copy film, so it turned out pretty well; I just can't find it, and it may very well be lost. Too bad, I thought it was cool.

| The priests house was located just outside of Vincent, KS. Head east on Highway 40 and between Victoria and Walker is the Vincent turnoff. There is a sign posted to show you where to turn. I spent alot of time out there when I was young. No hauntings, but always a guarateed good time if you went after dark with some beer! | |

K-weed, Suze. Like the topic, thirty years gone. Some field, somewhere back then. Found it, thought someone might get kick out of it. I'm sure nobody did who smoked it. Probably good for rope, I would imagine.
