Never could stomach Paul Anka's "Having My Baby."

Can't believe that my sister who was 16 in 1967, has no memory of this song. But for those of you who once had lava lamps, wore bell bottoms, tie dye, or bright paisley, or rode around in the back of a smoke filled VW van with shag carpet sipping Annie Green Springs, enjoy.

What's funny is one of my nieces writes in a style very similar to that old forum member.
Hmmmmm. That niece is kinda off the wall, self absorbed, and gets too excited at times. Maybe I ought to ask if she's ever been in the forum.

I've read a few in all kinds of forums. I remember one idiot who was bothering a bunch of women in a chatroom once using a name something like "Big 12". I came in as "Ole Shep" and did nothing but woof, growl and bark at him. I'd post things like Ole Shep: Lifts leg on Big 12. or Ole Shep: Bites Big 12 in the ass. All the rest of the room started playing along saying things like Good boy shep, Or they'd post things like "Dixie Girl: Pets Ole Shep."
After about an hour of that nonstop the guy starts posting everything in caps calling everybody idiots telling them I wasn't a real dog, dogs can't type, etc., etc. He eventually got so pissed he left. And he wasn't playing along. He was posting irate PM's to women in the room asking them if they really believed a dog was typing and asking if they'd go to another room with him. It was a fun night.

I have been idle on fb lately. Daily routine has been a pain lately. Not ignoring anyone on fb though a couple relatives seem to ignore me and maybe that's caused me to become a little disenchanted with fb.

I don't ignore, I just don't check as frequently as some. My family seems to be caught up in their own little dramas with their friends or other family so if I post to them it doesn't get answered all the time. You've conversed with me more than most on fb. Might be if I got more messages I'd be on fb more. I've gone a week with nobody ever posting to me so I only check once a day at most.

There's a Fleetwood Mac concert on Palladia right now. Three things haven't changed since I saw them live in 1981. Stevie Nicks is still the star of the show, Lindsey Buckingham still has the same haircut and "Tusk" still sucks.

You always heard about a dislike between Fleetwood Mac and Heart, even to the point of them not wanting to be in the same concert, but I remember them being together at Summer Jam at Royals Stadium one year and people said it was a great show. Or maybe that was because of Nugent entering the stage on a Tarzan swing from the upper deck and playing well past the time they were supposed to stop.

I'm afraid I can't watch very many remakes of classics and that's one of them. Just the fact that they do so many remakes tells me that the originals were that good and the current writers aren't good enough to come up with new concepts. Just show the old classics. I prefer them most cases. And I think some remakes are just done to fill the heads of modern viewers unfamiliar with the originals full of PC messages to the point that it's sickening.

Really? That show is about as anti-PC as they get. Scott Caan has a lot of the same attitude and mannerisms as his father.

I havn't watched the new Five-0 show. I was referring to other shows that kind of took PC overboard in the remakes, or spinoffs of originals. Star Trek Voyager was particularly blatent with the female captain, a black Vulcan, and Captain Janeways reference to God as "she". Star Trek has always sought to be racially and culturally friendly, but the PC in Voyager was just dumb.
Someone decided we had to have a black version of The Wizard Of Oz, A black man to play James West in the Wild Wild West movie. Other movies and TV remakes have had obvious gay additions.
I have no problem with shows portraying blacks, women, gays or anyone else as the hero, but when there were none in the original series it just irks me to see they think there has to be now.

I don't like the watered-down versions of old shows, either, but this one is very well done and not at all watered-down. They take a completely different approach to the Five-0 squad. It's a special task force that reports directly to the governor. The plot of the pilot episode involved the killing of McGarret's father, who looked just like Jack Lord. Kind of a subliminal way of saying that we aren't the old show. They do have a female Kono, but Grace Park is every bit the squad enforcer that the original one was. It does get into the personal lives of the characters, which the old show never did, but it shows the flaws in the characters. Did you ever wonder why the old Danno always wore a tie in a place where nobody wears a tie? And nobody ever made him as a cop when he was following suspects?

I just liked the old Five-0 and have trouble watching remakes because it's changing part of my memories of times gone by. As far as getting into the personal lives of the characters that's kind of lost on me. I always figured delving into the personal lives of characters and showing their flaws is more of a female need in TV shows. I just liked watching McGarret matching wits with Wofat or James West when he was dealing with the latest plots of Dr. Miguelito Loveless
