| Ok, so I've been required to sign up for Federal jury duty. Don't know anything about the case or even if there IS one yet... just that I'm now in the jury pool. I don't want to do it for a variety of reasons- not the least of which is that they don't pay SHIT and I don't have the time or interest. So I mean to get out of it. Any advice?
My plan so far is to avoid shaving for a week or more, avoid bathing for at least two days prior, show up in a DIRTY mechanic's uniform, and put on my stubborn, bitter white-trash act... which isn't a BIG stretch for me. I mean to ask about the concept of jury nullification, and to make it clear that I will NOT convict anybody of any 'crime' that I reckon is unconstitutional- or that I just don't agree with for whatever reason. I don't know exactly what jury selection entails, but picking my nose and throwing in some sling-blade (billybob thorton) mannerisms isn't out of the question. Should be interesting.

I got a letter three months ago advising me that I am a potential juror until the end of the year. I sent the response back indicating that serving on a jury would cause economic hardship. So far, no phone call telling me to come in. There are a few things that people have told me would almost certainly get you removed from most cases. You can decide for yourself if you want to use them. 1. Tell them that you think the prosecutor is corrupt and you would never vote to convict anyone he is prosecuting. 2. Indicate that you believe in maximum punishment in any and all cases where the defendant is found guilty, especially capital punishment cases. 3. Tell them you voted for Ron Paul. Your ideas sound pretty good, too.

| I was in a pool several years ago in Douglas county. I had to call in the week before (or something like that) and it indicated that my "number" was selected. So I go in and there are like 100 people in there. We all sit for 45 minutes just waiting. They then came in and called out the number for 2 groups of 20 or so. I was in the second group. The rest went home, but still got their $10. My group went into the court room and they were going over some kind of procedural stuff. Then the prosecutor comes in and says the guy plea bargained this morning and we could all go home.
I was actually wanting to serve, my job still paid me my salary as long as I turned the $10 over to them and it was at a time that I wasn't busy at work. So why not. But the whole thing was done in about 2 hours.
Funny thing was that I never did receive that $10 check and a few months ago I checked the States unclaimed property, and there it was.

| Under other circumstances, I wouldn't have a big problem with jury duty. But I've recently cut my work hours to part time and increased my school hours to full time. As such, I doubt I'd qualify for the company's jury-duty pay... not to mention that I'd miss classes.
Really, I should've just thrown the notice away and claimed that I never got it. It wasn't certified mail... nobody signed for it. They couldn't prove anything. It's got to be a routine occurance for people to simply not respond.

| My Clone had a good idea. I need to get me and NRA or Tea Party T-shirt. That would fit well with my act.
I actually might have an old NRA shirt stashed away somewhere... I'll look into that.

| Just tell them your opinions about cops. The defense would like you but the prosecution would damn near throw you out the door. | |
