Maybe you should pick a certain day or time and dedicate it to country music. Play something besides the mainstream garbage they been stuffing down our throats for years.

My parents stuffed country down my throat for enough years. I remember back in the 60's, early 70's BC (Before Cable) dad's TV included Lawrence Welk, Porter Waggoner, Buck Owens, and Hee Haw, and radio was always country. Mom's Sunday drives to see the grandparents meant 90 minutes of friggin gut wrenching gospel.

If not for Don Kirschner's Rock Concert and KOMA radio to heal my psyche I might have been severely traumatized.

Yep, and that there was life on the hill in Stockton KS. Probably what gave me my radio irons. Their DJ's were good. Jim West lives here in Hays.

So was it like KY-102 in Kansas City and/or KILO in Colorado Springs?

The first radio station other than local that blew my mind was in Denver,...KBPI "Rockin the Rockies!" They continually kicked ass! So did KILO in the Springs. There was one out of Chicago, I can't remember its call letters. About 1970 they enacted some FCC law that said they could no longer over-modulate, blast power. This is still a problem everywhere but it is policed much better. Oh and about 10 years ago the fines were increased from like $10K to $300K on up...Money changes everything,

I MEAN everything. Oh, I left out my Uncles baby, KKAN in P-burg. The Power company that owns it now is just as crappy at management as the last Christian organization. I better stop before I say something bad. I am to passionate about radio and TV.

But don't worry, I still have at least 4 tricks up my sleeve. P.S. I haven't added in any country yet because it just seems wrong,...even the progressive cross over. "Just warnt raised up like that"

I've heard of a couple of those stations, but KOMA was all I picked up clear. They played Smoke On The Water at some point between Midnight and 4:00 AM almost nightly and I had a rule that until I heard it I couldn't go to bed. Don't know why though because I had the Machine Head album.

You were probably picking up WLUP from Chicago. One of the nominees on that list, Steve Dahl, got his first big national exposure with Disco Demolition Night.

May have been I was thinking there call sign was w o w, had to be 4 letters. Every thing West of the Mississippi starts with "K" East of the mis "W"

WOW was out of Chicago if my memory serves me correctly.
