I more or less agree with you and Ratzilla. In theory, I think a private business should be able to do what the hell they want in this case. But in practice, I just don't care. There are probably several dozen things that happened today that I could bitch about- before I even got out of bed. I don't have room on my list for 'smokers' rights'.

| Laws pushed through on the grounds of what may largely be exaggerations or outright lies, ever increasing taxes, and two faced restrictive policy that exempts government itself while targetting a specific social group that I happen to be part of makes it a big issue for me. But I shouldn't be surprised. Government does alot based on lies. http://yourdoctorsorders.com/2009/01/the-myth-of-second-hand-smoke/ | |

| Kinda like the "Weapons of Mass Destruction" in Iraq. We are still losing lives over that lie. | |

I don't have room on my list for 'smokers' rights'. It seems we are so bombarded by so many things from so many different dierctions that after a while we just become numb and apathetic to anything that doesn't affect us directly. Though in a way it may actually affect us more than we realize because as we all lose a little bit of our rights here and there, after a while, before we know it, we have lost a huge amout of freedom and rights. Like the old saying goes... "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time " Thats whats happening in this country , bit by bit we are losing our freedoms and rights in the name of safety, better health, etc etc etc......

What annoyed me even more was the crying over the plight of the Kurds. What few knew is that while they used the Kurds as one of the excuses to oust Saddam, our "allies" the Turks, were busy killing Kurds along their border. Big difference was that the Turks were a big buyer of US military hardware and have almost no oil. Yeah Luke, This isn't just a rant about smoking. You may remember this piece of history. "First they came ..." is a popular poem attributed to Pastor Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) about the inactivity of German intellectuals following the Nazi rise to power and the purging of their chosen targets, group after group. In Niemöller's first utterance of it, in a January 6, 1946 speech before representatives of the Confessing Church in Frankfurt, he said "THEY CAME FIRST for the Communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. THEN THEY CAME for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. THEN THEY CAME for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. THEN THEY CAME for the Catholics, and I didn’t speak up because I was a Protestant. THEN THEY CAME for me and by that time no one was left to speak up."

| Not sure if that meets that standard for Godwin's Law, but it's awful close. | |

| If you know Godwin's Law, you also know he says the Nazi comparisons in conversations is often legit where propaganda, or totalitarian governments are the subject. Would you feel better if I just use examples of Communism gone wrong to compare to? Or are both the "N" word and the "C" word considered politically incorrect now to compare rotten government pricks to in civilized internet bull sessions? | |

| You'll be shocked at this Bighead, but I don't much care if you don't. But if all I did was say Uh.. this law sucks. Uh.. government sucks. it'd be dull reading. Ya know, your speeches have gotten pretty colorful when you were on tirades about cops, religion, or the Bush Crusades. You even borrowed my goat nation comment a couple times. | |

| Yeah, that was a good one. Unfortunately, I don't really have the time or interest to make full-page rants these days. I just throw in a comment or two on occasion and leave it at that. | |

| Seems like with this cold winter I don't have much to do and have too much time for rants. And of course when it involves things that affect me personally I get more involved. I know the nazi thing was kinda pushing it, but it seemed appropriate following Luke's post. | |

| Well EP, I guess that picture doesn't connect one's thoughts with nazis.... Or does it?
Obama's wife still reminds me of a bulldog with that lower jaw jutting out. Or kinda like that tribe that puts disks in the lower lip to make it stick out.
