This is really bad, folks. They don't really know, but I've heard estimates of up to 100,000 people dead. This country had very little infrastruture to begin with, and much of what it did have is now gone. Ways to help.

That's a good list of organizations that will put donations to use if anyone feels compelled to do so. Don't be suckered by calls or mailings from some outfit you never heard of, because there's always leeches that suck off of catastrophe.

I expect all of the US taxpayers will help in the form of billions of dollars to assist and rebuild them, and possibly a new home with monthly welfare checks for alot of Haitians who decide not to stay there.

Even China has offered aid. Ironically as with other disasters, a place of poverty largely ignored may see a regrowth beyond what they ever had before.
