| Apparently the Amish are exempted from the requirement to purchase health insurance under the Demcare bill. Is this not religious discrimination against all other religions and all atheists?
Also, shouldn't Islamic Jihadists be exempted? After all, they're not going to need health insurance when they blow themselves up on planes.

The healthcare scheme is all about forced subsidy... healthy people who don't NEED expensive coverage will be forced to help pay the costs of the less healthy. As such, a more appropriate requirement would be that Jihadists must buy round-trip tickets. That extra seat on the return trip will come in handy for the less fortunate.

Doesn't anything that you're willing to call a "scheme" make you very uncomfortable? b. The RT ticket idea would never work. The airlines make the tickets non-transferable these days. It would take another thousand pages added to the bill to change and clarify that. c. What about the first part of the post? Is it constitutional to exempt Amish based on their religion?

| a. Sure. I'd also call our current system a 'scheme'. At this point I don't care a whole lot what congress does- I'm screwed either way. Neither capitalism nor socialism are on the table- I'd find either -ism preferable to both the current and proposed schemes.
b. Doesn't matter that tickets are non-transferrable... it's all about paying more into the system. It'll trickle down eventually, don't you know? And that empty seat can be SOLD to the less fortunate.
c. No, but when has that minor consideration stopped EITHER party?

| I think anyone who wishes to be exempt should be allowed so long as they pay their own way for medical needs, or buy insurance. And anyone who wants the government plan should be required to pay in unless they have at least two legitimate physicians willing to label them as fully disabled. Otherwise, no cash, no insurance, no payment into the government plan, get the hell out.
But should the Amish be allowed exemption while others aren't? No, of course not.
Been awhile since I heard the "trickle down" theory. I always said trickle down means the elite drink in the profits and then piss on the rest of us.

Nope, sorry. Just using as a platform for other examples of corruption.
