JERUSALEM, ISRAEL (BosNewsLife)– Security forces of Israel’s immigration service broke into an African church in Tel Aviv damaging the ceiling and detaining several worshipers, news reports said Tuesday, December 22.

Israeli daily Haaretz said officers forced their way Monday, December 21, into the Redemption Power church, one of Israel’s most popular African churches, which is situated on Lavenda street near Tel Aviv’s central bus station.

Many worshipers, including local homeless people, reportedly fill the church each day.

Immigration officers gathered everyone on the premises and detained those who did not hold papers with a request for refugee status, Haaretz reported. It was not immediately clear how many people were detained.

Officers were quoted as saying that they “damaged the ceiling” because they were “sure the church was hiding illegal migrants there.” (does that mean gunfire?)

nope... those would be explained by our oil thieving religion foisting presence there. if jews will beat up on christians and terrorize the palestinians, why shouldn't muslims be just as protective of that which is theirs?

Maybe we should have just let the Soviets overrun Afghanistan. They probably would have killed bin Laden and we wouldn't be worried about him now.

If the USSR and the USA hadn't spent decades fighting over who got to be boss of the world we might not have ever had trouble with Bin Laden.

Some would blame the US for all our current world problems, but I'd say the expansionist goals of Russia, China, the US and Britain better says it. It's kind of like how a few tough kids run the neighborhoods while all the nerdy kids and little kids just watched hoping not to be caught in the middle. The superpower bullies pushed their way around until the owners of all the yards they chose to fight in got pissed. All of our nerds have revolted.

Our current situation is just history revisited. One or two big boys run it all until someone rebels. Sometimes the rebellion fails, sometimes a new bully emerges.

Funny how someone from Hays wouldn't include the Germans in that group. If it wasn't for the United States, Russian and British kids would be would be learning German as their primary language. And you'd have to include the Japanese and Italians, although the Italians would probably have been screwed over by the Nazis eventually.

Kind of reminds me of the scene in "Life of Brian" when they were blaming all of the other terrorist groups for their troubles.

Well I was referring to the post cold war days. But I'm afraid you aren't up on WWII history too well. Of the approximately 5.5 million German troop deaths, 3.5 to 4 million of those were lost either in combat with Russia, or died due to an abnormally harsh Russian winter. Another 8 million were captured by the Russians.

Germany sent the majority of it's forces into Russia including most of their top SS Panzer divisions. I believe there were only two SS Panzer divisions on the Western front to meet D-Day forces.

The Germans killed about 10 million Russian troops on the Eastern front which amounts to 20 times the total US losses in both the European and Pacific theaters. Germany lost most of their armor amounting to several thousand tanks including most of their heavy armor, thousands of aircraft, and heavy artillery pieces, on the Eastern Front. Germany lost most of it's aircraft to the Russians, and during the Battle of Britain before we ever got to Europe.

If Hitler had stood by his non-aggression pact with Russia "we" (quoted because that includes British, Canadian, and other allied forces) couldn't have had a successful D-Day invasion. Allied troops would have been no match for a full strength German army with all of it's pre-Eastern Front SS divisions, armor, artillery, and aircraft intact.

Even when the US and Britain bombed Dresden in 1945 it was observed that thousands of troops, armor, and artillery were headed for the Eastern, not the Western Front. Not to take anything away from US forces that fought in Europe, but the allies in the West merely helped Russia finish off the badly depleted German military.
