Update. After a poor summer for watermelons one Carolina Cross plant that did nothing but spread vines like crazy till now has suddenly started putting on several melons. Will wait and see how they do before doing any celebrating. I usually get a few late melons or pumpkins but this plant looks unusually strong for this time of summer. Man it's hard to believe summer is nearly over. If Halloween wasn't coming up I'd be damn depressed.

Isn't it, though? I'm glad you have some melons coming on. Wish I had a couple of healthy melons, but that's another issue.

I don't have any melons to show.
But the newlyweds came over today, it's the daughter-in-law's 18th birthday. She goes out to what once was the garden. She said mom, there's tons of red tomatoes out here. I was so excited, thank goodness for all the dang rain! I got two big bowls blanched and ready for the chili this winter. Guess I'll start watering the weeds again. If you don't see me on here for a couple days, please send help!

We are ready for the search. The brandy is fine in any weather. If there is any left.
