A friend's brother was hit by a drunk driver as he was walking down the street in Hays last night. He was lifewatched to Wichita. Please, send your healing thoughts, energies, prayers, good vibes, etc. to him and his family.

Not sure how many of you actually know Troy Basgall but PLEASE keep him in your prayers. He was hit(while crossing the street) by a drunk driver last night and was lifewatched to Wichita. Last I head the driver turned himself in, but I'm not for sure where it exactly happened.

Yeah, the driver did turn himself in. Called and told them where he was waiting to be picked up. Think the accident was on Noose Road but the driver was on something like 200th when he called to give up.

Via Troy's Facebook page: " Brandon Purdy Update for whom it may concern... Troy is awake and slowly talking. Appears to be ok other than the obvious.
Unless unforeseen circumstances arise, they expect him to be ok in the long haul. Suspected time in ICU 3-5 days. Thanks for all the support! 3 hours ago ·"

Noose Road is actually 12th street after it goes west past the college. It's named Noose Road because of the hangings on the RR bridge in the 1860's.

Don't know of any hangmen in the family, though supposedly about 500 years ago there was a Count in what's now Germany that may have been a relative who was put to the end of a rope himself after being found guilty of mass murder. It always makes me think of Mel Brooks.
Yeah, I know we're Has anyone got any updates on how Basgall is doing?

Courtesy of the Hays Daily A Hays man is being treated at a Wichita hospital for injuries sustained after he was hit by a vehicle early Saturday morning west of town.
A representative for Wesley Medical Center said this morning that Troy Basgall, 30, is in serious condition. The extent of his injuries was not provided.
The accident occurred at about 2 a.m. Saturday as Basgall was walking westbound in the 1300 block of Noose Road.
Ellis County Sheriff Ed Harbin said his office received a call shortly thereafter about a man lying in the road and bleeding.
When officers responded, Basgall said he had been hit by a truck. Vehicle debris found at the scene supported the allegation.
Basgall was taken to Hays Medical Center and later transported to Wichita.
During the course of their investigation that morning, Harbin said a man called to turn himself in for the hit-and-run.
The owner of a 2004 Chevy pickup, Christopher M. Norris, 35, rural Ellis County, was arrested for driving under the influence, failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing great bodily harm, aggravated battery and failure to give notice of an accident.
Norris appeared in court Monday for a bond hearing. He later was released under the supervision of community corrections after posting his $40,000 bond.
