Tommy James has cancelled his concert at the Wild West Festival. It his place Wild West Fest has got Davy Jones to fill in. Are you kidding me Davy Jones??? Are they going to bring in the Brady Bunch also to go along with this show. Anyone up for a 60's revival full of pot smoking and wild sex down at the park?

With Davy Jones it's more like bubble gum and soda pop.
Now bring in Pink Floyd, or Zepplin and then Acupulco Gold and a few bottles of Annie Green Springs with some girls in the back of a VW bus would be fitting.

He'll bring in an older crowd just out of curiosity, and a few denture girls looking to gum him up. He's short. Between 5'1" and 5'3".

Is Davey coming out with a walker or a wheelchair? He sucked with the Monkees and I doubt he improved with age, Same goes for Tommy James.

I heard that in his contract it states that there has to be a wheelchair ramp to the stage and he gets his choice of handicap parking spots. It'll probably bump slider and he'll be pissed again.

That would mean pot and sex in the park for sure. Probably alot of painted up old junker vans in Hays too. Alot of current Dead Heads weren't even born until the 80's or 90's but they look like they stepped right out of the 60's. I met a bunch traveling in a flower covered station wagon from California to a Dead concert in Illinois and looking at all of it was like stepping back in time even though none of them were older than 25 or 30. Might be they were born and raised in one of those mountain hippy communes that still linger on in the California wilderness.

How well would any of you do trying to fine someone at the last minute to appear? Granted I really wanted to see Tommy James but I think the Wildwest Fest crew did what they had to do.

I realize that they are working on a pretty tight budget, but the thinking that nobody would attend if they charged too much for the tickets really depends on the talent that they book. Most kids these days have never heard of Tommy James or Davy Jones. They associate "Mony, Mony" with Billy Idol and they associate The Monkees with a cartoon-like show on Nick at Nite. Perhaps they should try upping the ticket price a little and getting a band that younger people will show up for. I know this Tracy Lawrence dude is current, and they should be commended for getting him, even though I have no idea who he is. They had Unkle Kracker here a couple of years ago. Granted he was a one hit wonder, but the kids at least wanted to see him.
Ratz, you don't have to worry about The Dead playing anywhere close to here, unless you call Denver close. It was a tongue-in-cheek suggestion. We wouldn't want that drugs and sex in the park anyway. It would move in on Oktoberfest's action.
If you want to find another option, you could go to Junction City over the weekend. This is their line-up of bands. Personally, I'll be at The K for the Royals and White Sox.

They're having Heidi Newfield and Jamey Johnson on August 14th. I'm assuming it's country since I've never heard of them?
The WWF may not have a lot of money to work with, but maybe they could bring in a rather well-known band (even if it's an 80s hair band like Poison) and then have some really decent local or area bands...KC has some great bands...bring in some blues! OR...what about the Lt. Dan Band or Modern West with Kevin Costner?

I was never a Dead Head anyways. They're too happy hippy for my nature. Flowers, peace symbols, and sandals just didn't fit into my malcontented youth. I'm sure the drugs are at Octoberfest too. Just not as obvious as they are at certain concerts. That and the sex are probably in the apartments and frat houses.

If they are anything like Tom Jones and The Stones, there could be women who are 10 or 15 years older than them showing up with walkers flashing their tits and tossing panties on stage. Not a pleasant thought at all.
But it would be funny if Davy were performing and suddenly some old girls Depends lands on the stage in front of him.

Tom Jones would still sell out any theater on The Strip.
We went to the Stones concert in Wichita a couple of years ago. Keith may be running on China White and preserved with Jack Daniels, but they still put on a helluva show.

I think Keith Richards has been dead for 20 years, he's just too stoned to know it. But yeah, they still keep up the shows. Tom Jones always has had a wide appeal. Like a less tacky version of Elvis.

I think it should be a good show. The Monkeys had a lot of hits back in the day. They got a taste of "Workin for the man" or as Lynnard Skynnard sings,..."Workin for MCA"

We used to go every summer when my dad was a judge at the wine tasting contest. I always liked that they had the shaded area with the bus seats for fat bastards like yours truly to sit and view the "wild life" while the kids sauntered about their own way. Near the bus seats there was always a good foot-long corn dog place and a quite good barbecue place.
I remember one year when I was walking around with my nieces, warding off the importunate demands of the various circus vendors, when we came upon a man with some pool tables. He was in awful health. He would have his hands on one pool table, and then swing around to prop himself on an adjacent table when he wanted to face a different direction. He was always gasping for air, overweight, haggard, weak . . . emphysema or some other lung disease I thought. It was very sad.
