| Just think. If Al Queada decided to hit the Jackson memorial service every liberal in the country would be out for blood willing to kill millions to get the men responsible. They might even blame the Phelpses at first and rid us of those vermin. | |

I sometimes just have to laugh and point when I see things like this. It's the only rational reaction. There is just so much about that comment that makes one go WTF?!??!

My point was that liberals were so against the anti-terrorism campaigns of Bush, some of which they should have been. But if terrorists hit the Jackson service liberals would be the first to scream for vengence.

| It's ok Oz. She'll never want for anything, and her friends think her dad was a hero. Later she can make many more millions on book deals and royalties. Just think how many kids leave their parents graveside with no future. | |

I'm sure those kids will take solace in the fact that they'll apparently want for nothing. Never mind that their father is dead. That thought of that money will make everything better.

Money has a way of easing pain over time. The validity of tears and touching words will be determined by the length of time it takes the book and movie deals to come to light. Too many people outside of the family with $$ in their eyes.

I never said money would replace him. But you know a 1000 kids lost parents since Jackson died and many of them will struggle just to survive. Most of them will not have the literally thousands of sympathy letters and unending attention of the Jackson kids. I have sympathy for any kid who loses a parent including Michael's. But I tend to think of how much tougher it will be for the kid whose dad had nothing to leave them but a funeral debt to pay off.

| My dad passed away when I was 10. We were comfortable middle income. Far from rich , but not wanting. Mom was able to get a part time job at a donut shop.
Rice, beans, bologna, and hand-me-down clothes. If it weren't for the free pools there wouldn't have been any swimming.
Tell me again how bad off this girl is compared to thousands of kids who lose a parent AND their financial security. Many children go from a comfortable life to poverty when they lose a parent.
Does cash replace a parent? NO! But it is a far better situation than most. She may want for her dad. Others want for their dad, too. and a bowl of cereal.

| I think the whole point here was people feeling for a child who has lost her father. Yes this child will have money, inherited fame, and resources that others do not have. Of course she will have more then the average child who loses a parent, but for the love of God all she sees today is that her Daddy is gone forever. That's all her world is right now. Hard not to feel something. | |

| On a lighter note, Al Sharpton said during his speech that Tiger Woods and BO wouldn't be where they are today if not for Michael Jackson. I don't get that connection, but Crazy Al has never been known for sound logic. Those of you who were watching it on ESPN News didn't see his statements. He was preceeded by Kobe and Magic. As soon as Crazy Al came on, they cut to commercial. | |

I don't feel a lot of sorrow for the rich, they have no clue how tough life is in the real world, as for the jackos kids, I feel sorry for them having had to be subjected to jacko and his "eccentricities" . Now they will be the center of custody battles not because anyone really cares about them, it will be about the money that comes with them.

| The point was never to say the kids won't feel the loss, or that they don't need or deserve sympathy. I already said I feel sorry for any kid having to deal with this. But I also agree with Luke. Those kids deserve even more sympathy for all the leeches that will be trying to suck them dry.
When Al Sharpton told the kids "Wasn't Nothing Strange About Your Daddy' ... It was strange what your daddy had to deal with.", I about choked. What an ass kisser. I bet that pig was seeing dollar signs every time he looked at those kids.

In 1990, there were three people in the US who got so much mail that they had their own zip code. Strangely, all of their initials were MJ. Michael Jackson, Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan. The other two have dealt with it quite nicely. Does anyone really believe that Michael Jackson slept with Brooke Shields?

If Al Gore hit the Jackson memorial, there would have been no A/C in the Staples Center and the family would have been carted around in rickshaws pulled by Chinamen (limos cause global warming). But at least Al loaned them some bandwidth on his internet to stream it.

How does internet viewers factor into that? I watched a portion of Di's funeral on TV, none of Reagan's, but watched Jackson's on the net in my office. Edit: of course I could find my own answer: - Quote :
- Complete estimates of the Internet audience were not immediately available, but individual Web sites reported some heavy traffic. MSNBC.com said it streamed nearly 19 million videos on Tuesday, a record for the site. Video streamers spent an average of 12 minutes on the site, MSNBC.com reported.
CNN.com said it had 10.5 million live streams, the second busiest day in its history. It streamed nearly 27 million videos on Obama's inauguration day. ABC News said its Web site had nearly 6 million video streams, with traffic up 70 percent over a typical day.

Very few people had video streaming capability for Diana's funeral in 1997. Al Gore hadn't perfected it yet.

Absolutely. I'm sure more people would have watched JFK's funeral, but there were a lot of people back then who didn't even have a TV.

I keep hearing how its sad that Ferrah Fawcett isn't getting her due coverage, but it is different when someone all of a sudden dies and has been dying. Once I heard about Ferrah Fawcett's cancer problems, I assumed she would die within the year, but deaths like Michael's was just out of no where. Plus didn't some of the networks have some interviews and specials on her within the last month?
