I think they sold that ranch a couple of years ago. I have never seen a town waste so much money like this town does. They spent alot of money on that ranch and nothing ever happened with it.

It would have helped if they had the foresight to establish their right to take the water from Edwards County before purchasing the land.

I once heard that when Walker Air Base was closed, the federal government offered it to the City of Hays to be developed as an airport at the price of one dollar. The city commission at the time turned it down because "air travel will never be that big."

walker may be best off not belonging to hays. there are all kinds of nasty chemicals dumped by the miltary when it was active and when it closed. now all that stuff is getting into the water and somebody is going to have to pay to clean it up
