Can someone help???Child support question

I have looked everywhere,called and can't get a straight answer........Can a large SSI backpayment be intercepted for back child support??State of Kansas says no,Arizona says yes and Social security said maybe some of the$$,but not all of it.
a few websites say all other kinds of disability and unemployment can be taken but not SSI.
I am confused

I don't know. My step-son's mom was nuts for a while ( seriously nuts) and received SSI. Her kids got a portion of that as child support.

I would say, MAYBE MAYBE some but not all. SS pays that out from the time you turn in the application, thats why it is such a large amount. If it is for you child, I dont see how they could take any. BUT I'm also not the good ol' government!!!!

Really the only agency that can answer this question and clear up any monetary screwup is the Social Security Administration but I would definitely go to the office rather than try and handle it over the phone if it were me.
