NB & Nitro's mom in the hospital

DX I changed the title since I hijacked it, hope thats ok lol

I am exhausted, my mom has been in ICU since early last Monday morning and I have been doing my best to run their store here in Hoxie. On top of all of that we have the stomach flu in our house - even the baby has it now. Sigh..

NB how is your mom doing? If you are Nitro need anything let me know. Get well soon all of you!!

NB if she's not much improved in a couple days get her to Wichita. My sis was going down fast until we sent her there. Hays thought she'd never get off the ventilator but Wichita proved them wrong. Don't want to sound negative because there's a new respiratory doc in Hays, but Wichita is just so much more advanced. Keep us posted kid.

Not sure how we would go about getting her moved, and if we had to choose I'd rather take her to Denver, we have family in Colorado, and it is closer to us.

I also don't think they will transfer her because since going into HMC she has been infected with Staph.

I'm not sure on the infection issue. But to transfer her you'd need to contact Denver and get it set up. Insurance may not pay the ambulance trip though if you go to a hospital farther away, though I'm sure Denver has top level care. But if O2 levels are low Wichita might be considered better because of altitude.

Today she is breathing completely on her own but they have not taken the tube out. They have to be sure she can breathe deep enough to do it once the tube is out. Hopefully she will continue to improve.

Got to spend a nice long time with Mom at noon to watch quailfying. (Thanks, Tina).

Breathing exercise went great and they are going to get her up in a chair this afternoon.

I have heard that this is pretty common at HMC. Scary.

Just got a call from Dad, they took her off the ventilator at 10 am! She can't talk yet but it is a huge step in the right direction!

that tube they shove down your throat makes it very sore...it takes some time. Breathing on her own is WAY GOOD News!!!! Sends more "Mom" prayers.

Or blend up SF Jello (Orange) it is great cold!

A convenience store, and I think we are finally getting over it.

Mom is so sick of hospitals. She's way past ready to get out but she had to get strong enough physically. Glad your mom is gaining ground and I wish her a quick recovery. I hate even going in a damn hospital for an hour.
