it did not come with firefox. It came from a link you clicked on. I ahve had it before and got rid of it with the full version of avast pro. avast does not script block firefox as it does IE

| Get rid of firefox and install IE6 if you can. IE 6 does not track all of your browsing like IE7 does. Your best option for free anti virus is Avira then run a scan. If you can afford to purchase a anti virus,go with CA. I've been using it for about 8 months without any issues. Good luck.. If you can download a program called O&O Safe Erase it will allow you to remove all parts of any program you have installed that you no longer want.. unlike removing from add and remove programs which does not get rid of everything. | |

Well, sweetheart, I'm not sure if either will work for you. But the malwarebytes link slickjay posted is a good place to start. Remember, malware is not necessarily a virus. Both Avast and AVG are fine anti-virus programs, but none should be installed at the same time. Anti-virus programs installed on the same computer usually don't play well together. Check back here, hon, we'll get you through this.

| SciFi is right not to run two different antivirus together. Since an antivirus must have access to all parts of your system they tend to see each other as an intruder. | |

| Norton and McAfee run ok together now, but they used to really screw with each other. Anti-virus and anti-spyware of different types don't seem to conflict with each other too much, but I've seen more than once when one program was identified as a malicious intruder by another because it was accessing certain system files. I had two anti-spyware progs that gave each other fits and finally got rid of one of them. Part of anti-virus protection is not just identifying virus, but seeing other programs attempting unauthorized access to files. Could be antivirus is getting better about that, but I've still seen anti-spyware programs conflict fairly recently. | |

| I started ZA Pro years ago when I found out it would notify me not only when something was trying to gain access, but also the IP it came from. Used to have fun tracking ZA hits back to see who it came from. | |

| It doesn't hurt to run anti-spyware with antivirus, and I highly recommend a good firewall. Zone Alarm not only stops them it tells you their IP and you can track back to it's source. It at least keeps wannabe hacks out. Maybe there's better than ZA nowdays, but a few years ago I liked ZA Pro alot. | |
