| The annual city wide clean up is still slated for the fall. There will be ample opportunity to refurnish that mobile home of yours, and perhaps finally get that lovely bride a gift worthy of her beauty.

| we waste entirely too much stuff. the landfills are full of things that could have been repaired, but were tossed away in the name of "simplicity" and "convenience"... | |

| There are two cleanups in SW hays, but not the rest of Hays. The city has a city-wide cleanup that they provide to you every fall. Those of you who are fortunate enough to live in the area south and west of 8th and Main get a second cleanup in May. If you don't live in that area, don't complain to the city. This is a private effort that has so far been accomplished by Hays Neighbors in cooperation with various Fort Hays classes and fraternities. This years effort is still being organized. It covers nearly 30 blocks in an area recognized as the gateway to the campus.
If you don't live in that area and feel your neighborhood could use this service, talk to your neighbors in an equally large area and get organized. You are welcome to join the Hays Neighbors meetings if you wish to observe how we accomplish what we do.

| I sure hope the cleanup provided in the SW part of Hays helps prevent all of the illegal dumping in the county. | |

I agree! A couple of years ago during the city clean up, I drove past a mountain of reusable stuff. It was disgusting. I drove back by and grabbed a few items that would fit in my vehicle. I sure hoped that others would do the same. One of the items was a back pack that looked brand new, it had an odor like it had been in a basement for a very long time. Nothing that some spray didn't fix.
