It is a Chinese/Italian/American restaurant that is located in the gas station that used to house Hardees and then Taco Johns. It is just down a little to the left from Arby's. It has food from spaghetti, to fetticini, to fried rice, to lo mein, to chicken strips. There is nothing over $ 6!!

I didn't know that we ever had a Taco John's, loved that placed in Lawrence, but thanks for the info on Hays Express. I've been wondering when it was up and running.

| It just doesn't offer a big variety though. It only has Lo mein for chinese (at least at the drive thru anyway). What a weird combo of foods! The lo mein had a burnt taste and my daughter couldn't even eat it. Haven't tried any of the others. | |

On the bigger menu in drive thru they have fried rice with beef, chicken or shrimp and egg drop soup. I have ate there several times and had no problems I hope it doesn't go down hill.

| Ok chiefsfan, thanks. Funny I just drove past Arbys and looked that direction without seeing it. But I was scouting the side streets for Christmas lights to show some kids when I take em on a Hays lights tour so that's probably why. | |

| This is the explanation that the owner gave a friend of mine:
"Business across street good. Over here, no good. We close."
When it was pointed out to him that despite the fact that locals thoight his food was pretty good, the location he was in depended on travelers from I-70, and many of them may not feel very trusting of Chinese food from the back of a gas station, he didn't seem to understand.
