Swiss approve prescription heroin

Swiss voters have approved a radical health policy that offers prescription heroin to addicts on a permanent basis.

Final results from the national referendum showed 68% of voters supported the plan.

The scheme, allowing addicts to inject the drug under medical supervision at a clinic, began in Zurich 14 years ago before spreading across the country.

But in another referendum vote, 63% of voters rejected the decriminalisation of cannabis.

The heroin vote was one of a series of referendums held to decide policy on illegal drugs.

Our country ought to get to vote on the drug issues since our politicians always blow smoke up our butts about how free we are. I bet weed would become legal here. Make it legal to grow small amounts of your own and allow sale of the finest hybrid seed and the illegal growers and importers would be out of business in this country.

Then all that money that GW wants us to believe goes to Al Queada from Central and South American weed sales would be gone. So would all the hashish sales from the Middle East that might really be putting money in Islamic radicals hands. All that terrorist money gone. What a conservative victory that'd be.

My niece and her husband just toured Amsterdam as part of a Euro tour. They say porn, and the smell of weed burning is everywhere, but even with their stuffy conservative ways they felt pretty safe. She said the only time they had a problem was when they were walking on a bikes only path and caught hell from a guy who nearly run em over. But the potheads and pervs left them alone.
