Nebraska: State of disposable children.

Nebraska law allows parents/caretakers to abandon children up to age 19, with no fear of prosecution.

The way I understand it the law was created to protect infants and very young children, however we keep hearing about the cases of caretakers surrendering their children that are much older.

What about 32 year old children that try to move back in?

I have 32 years until I have to deal with that problem... but I'd lock the doors and pretend not to be home!

There were a few times when my kids were teens (one still is-but he's pretty good now) that I would have fantasized about giving them away. Just kidding, I wouldn't do that for the world. I did enjoy shipping them off to Grandma's at times.

The state Legislature opens a special session Friday to consider revising the 'safe haven' law. Most legislators have already agreed to set an age limit of 3 days.

It beats some of the alternatives we've seen. Like Andrea Yates when she drown all of her kids.
