I noticed that gas jumped $.20 here in Hace and I just hope they don't climb to over $4 like they're predicting. I just think this is an attempt to take advantage of everyone. They have been saying on the news that the refineries aren't damage they just don't have power right now to operate and that could take 1-2 weeks to get power back. We went through this with Katrina so hopefully the effects of this won't be long either.

They should have a full-time staff just to handle complaints about the Valero station on North Vine.

According to my parents that run the convenience store - Friday night the wholesale gas price went up 30 cents. They were told specifically that this was NOT a guaranteed price and to call first before ordering anything. The last load of gas they bought cost them just shy of $30,000.

Price of oil is down because of an excess on the market.

Price of gas is up because the refineries in Texas are down.

Yeah,I don't get it.Denver,Phoenix,Kansas City and alot of other places Valero and Quick Trip are known to have good if not lower prices than others-why is it the highest here???

Sure. It is consistently higher than anybody else in town, but does not rise to the level of gouging. Rude and opportunistic, but legal.

Probably not. The standard was set in this state with the price gouging cases on 9/11. You didn't even have to have a receipt or be able to prove that you bought gas at the ridiculous high prices. If you went to the station and demanded a refund, they had to give it to you at the risk of huge fines. I doubt any of them want a repeat of that.
