Received in e-mail:

Please share this email with ANYONE who you know in the Hays area. Call, text, facebook or yell from the top of your roof--the donations are so important for this time of year! ~ Dawn Gabel, Donor Recruitment Representative, American Red Cross

This October has been a month of low donations in Northwest Kansas. The FHSU drive last week was 50 donations down. Monday in the Hays Blood Donor Center there were only 2 donors!!! Good weather for playing outside and of course harvest has cut deep into the numbers of donations that supply our very own hospitals. TODAY is a good day to save a life. Please take a moment to go to www.redcrossblood.org and make an appointment! Please help make a difference to our neighbors that will need the blood this week.

Where: Hays Blood Donor Center, 208 E 8th St.
When: M, W, F 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; W, Th 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Cost: Just a pint

How to Donate Blood: Walk into the center, appointments are not required, or Call 1 800 RED CROSS or go to www.redcrossblood.org to make an appointment. All blood types are needed to ensure the Red Cross maintains an adequate blood supply. A blood donor card or drivers license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Donors must be in general good health, weigh at least 110 pounds and be at least 17 years old (16 in Kansas with completed Parental Consent Form available online). Visit www.redcrossblood.org to learn more.

are you sure it's not the vampires plotting to get your blood?? They should come up with a fun vampire halloween blood drive, get some young ( over 18) blood; by having a dress up drive. (just thinking)

My Navy son passed out at the high school's blood drive when he was 16 (full parental consent form completed). He was trying hard to be cool in front of his girl friend... epic fail!!! cheers

At least he tried. My kids run when they see a needle. It's a major job to get them to get a flu shot.

It was the latter of the 2, Ratz. I know, EP. I was proud of him for trying. Doesn't mean he ever lived it down. What a Face

That's ok. Those are sizable needles and I know full grown men who have needle fear. Good thing I don't because I commonly get stuck with wires and ran a wire clear through a finger a couple days ago. I probably should donate since I've missed doing it a couple times.

Sure it was old. I can't make it on the spot ya know. Probably had enough nicotine and carbon monoxide in it to knock down a horse too. Smile

Ratz, you should know that plants absorb carbon monoxide.

Now, eat your veggies.
