Help, I'm needing a 2 or 3..

I'm getting my 15 month old grandson. I am renting a one bedroom here in Ellis now, But they want me to have at least a 2 bdrm place. I want to get back to Hays. Do you know of any rentals coming up ? I'm Looking at 1st. of Aug. Please let me kow if you know of anything decent, for a decent price. I do want central air and heat becuse I don't want any burnt feet or hands from heaters. By the way, where is everybody???

I don't have any specific info... and lots of people seem to disagree with me whenever I bring it up. But I rented a place from Schwaller for several years, and have no complaints whatsoever. The rent was cheap by my standards at least: $410/month for a 2-bedroom house. Didn't have central air- we used a couple of window units, but it did have central heat. It was in the south part of town- not the best neighborhood... but the absolute worst neighborhood in Hays really isn't too bad.

They raised the rent once in 4 years- from $390 to $410. Fixed a couple of things early on, had the lawn mowed regularly. It was a good deal IMO.

When I first arrived in Hays, Schwaller was one of the few landlords in town who would allow pets. They had a list of open rentals. Quite a few of them were real dumps- not even up to my own rather low standards- but a couple of them were ok.

Thank you. I did look at a trailer they have on old 40high way, they are fixing it up. It has central air & heat. I'm just wondering how much will it cost to heat for the month months. or cool this summer?

The age and quality of trailer will be the factor there. And whether there's any shade trees.

Ratzilla, they are updating it as far as new siding, insulation.New skirting. No trees, head to tail= east to west, door faces south. They do allow some pets.

You can keep a trailer cool, but newer ones with thicker walls and shingled roof do best. I lived in a couple older ones and they were miserable with no air conditioning, but stayed plenty cool with it if you ran it enough. Winter time was fine as far as house warmth, but of course pipes underneath could freeze.

Pipes freezing, yuk. I just want a nice clean comfortable place I can raise a baby with out worring if he will be to hot, or to cold, pipes freezing..... I should wait and see if I can get a nice one @ CSE with a pool.Thank you for all the info.

i will say schwaller came right away when my pipes froze,and only my kitchen froze............i see the one your talking about that they're fixing up,i drive by there everyday.it is awesome out here jewelz,theres horses,deer,turkeys,skunks and lots of pretty birds,it's very quiet and serene.you should really think about coming out to the country

Are you sure we are talking abut the same place Wilkykav2? How are you doing any ways? How are your children?. I'm talking about the one in ~~a kinda trailer park~~ that has a few aptment there to. The trailer I'm talking about in the second one in. Is that what you are talking about?

Never understood why they put a trailer court and baseball fields right by the sewer. I don't recall it being any more expensive to cool and heat a trailer than a typical older house. A modern or modernized house or one with thick rock walls would be more energy efficient but you can expect high rent on anything very nice.

You can't escape the stink in Hays on a lot of days. Thanks to the Kansas state hog farm on the south end of Hays.

Hog farm? You mean that's not the K-State cheerleaders camp?

But yeah, it reeks on some days.

We used to say that there was a "poop mobile" hanging over the city of hays. Much like a mobile hangs over a crib the stink would hang over hays, appearing in different areas on different days. There were seriously times that you could smell it in the Hays Med area, but not on campus.

Hummm, I wonder how to find out. $400. isn't to bad if it's nice and has 3 bdrms. and roomy.

Hays would only be enhanced by your presence.

I don't need to be in Hays, but something within 30 minutes or so east, west or south, would be just lovely. Out in the sticks is alright, too. Needs to be pet friendly.






Back to Jewelz.... good luck finding what you need in Hays. The market sucks there for pet friendly, affordable places.

I got a place in Ellis, but unfortunately it needs work and one of my family has offered to trade working on it for rent. It was definitely pet friendy over the years.

Perfection is unimportant. Not worried about aesthetics, just functionality.

I'm getting some things repaired now. Will let you know if the relation backs out of the deal. If I hadn't already discussed it with her months ago I'd consider getting it ready to go now. With her and her boyfriend alot of the needed repairs will be done after they move in. It's amazing how many things can go bad after just a few years being uninhabited.

Well I found some more plumbing repairs on my old place so it's not even livable yet. And that is a nice picture of you Suzy. Looks like you found a little sun among all the rain.

Yep... gettin some sun this year despite the rain.

LOL. The County road crews liked her. So did my brother in law who had a "getaway" trailer East of there for a while.

got some info people!!!!the house is owned by a lady whos hubby passed not too long ago,from Plainville I think they said. her hubbys name was daryl kirchin or kerchin and her name is darlene,it heat is propane good luck!!

Thanks I need it. I'm getting my 15 month old grandson and can't get him until I get a 2 or 3 Bdrm. Needs to be up to foster care home study guide lines and I don't know what they are even. I just got back from Ok going to Court to get him. THANKS EVERYBODY... I have to catch up on here , see if I can find a place! Let me see what Ratzilla has said, and Wilk, let me catch up!
