robert may be refering to the level of "censorship" on the new site. Don't get me wrong, you guys have done an awesome job, but alot of people seem to be shells of their former selves. Just my HO.

the only censorship we have placed is the personal namecalling of individuals. I don't understand why people won't be themselves. We are trying to curb personal attacks, and references to the old 67601.com site. That's it. I'm confused.

Well, I personally think most are trying to be on their best behavior and not being so honest in most ways. I am not good at explaining things on paper, much better in person.

No one has said anything to anyone about what they can and can not talk about except for two simple rules. You can not personally insult a member of this forum or a member of the local community. You can not discuss the "old website" or any of it's issues, this is out of respect for the "old site's" owner and any ongoing legal issues he may or may not have.

I think everyone is a little gun shy over what happened to the "old site", as well they should be. Some of the stuff that was said on the "old site" was so vulgar and juvenile it was not funny.

I'm sorry if you feel you can not come to this site and act like a 6th grader and call people names and stuff, get over it or move on, your free to choose.

It is kinda hard to talk about local politics and goings on without naming names.

I think this is where a big misunderstanding is... we never said you couldn't name names. The only reason things were edited for a few people was because of the issues dealing with the old website. We are referring to the following types of "namecalling". Mr. John Doe is a worthless piece of shit. Does that make more sense?

I want us all to be on the same page. We are doing our best to avoid some of the issues and namecallings that were going on just before the old site was shut down. I want people to use this forum to gather information and have in depth discussions about local issues. Just use your best judgement when doing so. There is a way to get your point across without profanity, etc. (I am not pointing my finger at ANYONE in particular)

May I ask a question, or will I get banned again?

I love it when you cause me grief. You always take it too far.

If you don't understand why the post about your ex wife was censored, for blatantly calling her a profane name, using her name then you don't get the rules. It is not rocket science. My moderators were doing their jobs.

As for the other post, that particular person is a national political figure.

If you'd like I can just sign the entire site over to you and let you deal with it all. We are working out the kinks as we go. If people have such a problem with it, we can just shut the entire thing down. No one seems to care about the fact that a lot of us find this place as a home away from home. We are learning as we go, and trying to watch our backs as we do so. I have had a lot of people tell me that they were extremely unhappy with some of the discussions and slanderous comments on the old site. I realize this place isn't perfect but we are doing the best we can. I feel like I am beating my head against a wall. We can't make everyone happy. I didn't open this forum and start all of this to put more stress on myself and my family and thats all it seems to have done. I did this to stay in touch with some great people, and to hopefully do some good for our community by allowing them a place to discuss local issues and help make Hays a better place to live. I want people to rely on this site for good advice, community events, and if we can do some positive things then great!

Again I am sorry if we can't make everyone happy. The site has been open less than a month. I know from experience it took a LONG time for the old place to be like it was.

Something no one can deny or call rumor. Suppose They arrest Mister XXXXX for robbery. Well that's a known fact. If you say Mister XXXXX robbed someplace you either need a photo of it happening or be able to produce a credible witness on demand that saw him do it. And then you should be telling the proper authority, not the forum.

I think alot of the issue is there have been lots of accusations in the past that while plausible, had no solid proof in the statements being made. I can say so and so hosed me on a car deal, but if I'm not postive I could prove it in court, it best be said differently.

Why can't you write letters to editors of newspapers? Or start a message board of your own just for accusing local officials.

I'm as big a free speech advocate as anyone, but this is a private forum made available to the public. It's unfair to ask the admins to take the risks so you can have a voice.
