| I was driving down Main street this afternoon and saw a man in a wheelchair going down the street, not the sidewalk. On my way home I saw a woman in a wheelchair in a residential area, with curb cuts, going down the street. Why did the city spend the money on curbcuts when they are not being used? Maybe someone who is in a wheelchair could chime in here. There may be a legitimate reason that I don't know about. | |

| I don't know about Main street. Those sidewalks should be passable. But many residential sidewalks are in poor shape and may be unpassable with a wheelchair. I am not in a wheelchair, but I know people who are. I am somewhat familiar with their challenges. | |

| I would say that the sidewalks are not always in the best of shape as well! Sometimes I have to do all sorts of maneuvers to get my daughter around. | |

| The side walks are horrid!! Riding my bike back and forth to work. You do learn the maneuvers. There are some places with 4 inch drops. A person in a wheel chair has a hell of a ride. Yet the streets are pretty bad to! Just my opinion~~~~LOL~~~ | |

| Thanks for all the input. I do alot of walking but the sidewalks I walk on are in fairly decent shape. I do agree the city streets are in dire need of repair and apparently so are the sidewalks. | |

| A curb cut is the area where the city cut out a piece of the curb so that they could then pour a concrete ramp to make the sidewalks wheelchair accessible. | |

That's the technical name for it, when discussing it with City officials, you have to use Cut Out. | |

| Most sidewalks in the older part of town did not have wheelchair accessable sidewalks until LINK threatened to file an ADA lawsuit to force the city to provide curb cuts. | |
