| The Public Safety Equipment fund $629,465 Significant Issues for 2008 1. Purchase three fully equipped police package patrol cars; total cost $123,600. 2. Purchase a fourth rescue-pumper, $280,000. 3. Both Police Department and Fire Department replacement/new equipment funding is included in this account for the first time; $61,000. This funding was previously included in the General Fund 1. Continue to phase-in the purchase and replacement of police patrol cars until all police officers have an assigned vehicle. This program is intended to increase the service life of patrol cars from two (2) to eight ( years and provide for a stronger major emergency or disaster response program using recalled off-duty police officers. 2. Purchase a fourth pumper-ladder truck for the Fre Department to support the operation of the 33rd Street fire station and the proposed airport fire station. This will provide an adequate number of fire trucks to protect the city based on the recommendations of the Insurance Services Office. 3. In 2008, the city will have one pumper fire truck, three rescue pumper trucks, two pumper-ladder trucks and the airport crash truck in operation with an average nine (9) years of service. The 1981 pumper truck is scheduled for replacement in 2009. | |

| So with that travel expense the commissioner's can motor to Salina for a week-end retreat to work on "business". To boring in Hays I assume?
Then this past month the trip to Washington D. C. that Chris Channel could go along on but never can find time to attend City meetings?
This is very informative as to how our taxes are spent. I thought the City Commissioners had a duty to represent the taxpayers to the best of their ability. I didn't read such.
Thanks for the information. Where did you locate this information? | |
