| from what I understand, he had been underwater, stood up and immediately fell over. A volunteer fireman and a lifeguard were over to him right away and started CPR as quick as they could get him to the side of the pool. Sounds like it was just a freak accident. As far as the HDN not having a lot of info, it happened at around 4:30 and a lot of info wasn't released. The volunteer fireman was a friend and neighbor of this young man and his family, I would imagine that would be a very difficult situation to be in and I hope that people will hold any harsh comments they may be compelled to blurt out. This is a very difficult time for any of the people involved and mean spirtied comments would be inappropriate. | |

| I know this is a very "get it now" sort of age, but with all news -- and with special care in cases as tragic as this -- we get our information from official sources and ensuring that all pertinent notifications have been made prior to distributing the news. We express our sympathies to friends and family, as well as the Ellis and Ellis County communities. It's been a rough summer in northwest Kansas.
While we don't relish the duty of relaying such sad news, we hope readers understand that "getting it now" always will be tempered with compassion for those involved.
Our sincere condolences to anyone who knew this young man, who by all accounts, was just an exemplary person.

| HDN was prompt, and used official sources being the Coroner, and Ellis PD for information. And in this article they did a nice write up about the boy. LINK HERE | |

| Ron, HDN handled the news of this quite well. Unfortunately the messenger seems to get shot for being prudent, at times. | |
