Rock Springs 4-H center

Has anyone sent their kid to this camp? Both of mine want to go, but its gonna cost $200 per kid, and I want to make damn sure it is worth the money. Input please!

Yes! My son went for 4 years. He participated in all the activities offered including swimming, horseback riding, archery & hiking (and many more... LOL). He really loved it there and was never ready to come home. How long is the stay at camp, for $200? If you've never been, the last few miles of the drive into the camp are a bit slow... the road is a bit narrow, a little hilly and curvy.

Rock Springs, Maryland?

I went there in my youth...I have no horror stories, but I did see a kid eat a pack of cigarettes. he got caught by a counselor...just a warning

suz it is june 24-27...

Eek... seems like a lot of money for 3 nights (I'm a tightwad, tho), but I think they'll enjoy every minute of their time there. They keep them busy and they'll likely come back with a few projects they completed.

What are the 4 H's in 4H, anyway?

I cant afford to send both of them and I am willing to bet their dad won't help pay any of it...

My son went when we lived in Salina, as part of their Special Pops program with the parks and rec, otherwise we'd never have been able to afford to send him. There may be scholarships available, there usually are with most of those functions.

Two of the neighbor girls went to 4H camp. All I heard them talk about doing was swimming at night with the boys they thought were hot.

I went there with a bunch of Catholic kids all from the same diocese.

Sounds like the church camp that I went to in Missouri. Most of the guys thought of it as a 4F camp - Find 'em, Feel 'em, Fu@k 'em, Forget 'em. Wonder if those counselers knew what went on during the unsupervised "nature walks."

I got more info from the girls in his class than from him. I offered to go watch it with him and he said no.

Jamie it's very safe. My youngest daughter went for a week twice when she was in the Dickinson county 4-H. She went when she was in 3rd grade AND 4th grade. She loved every minute of it. They are supervised very well and they have alot of activities. I didnt have the money to send her either but she got a scholarship both years from either the local 4H club or a local business. One of your kids' 4H club leaders should be able to help you out with that on who to contact.

Are you sure you want to? That place got crazy. Seems like alot of the 70's are just a blur in time though. Musta been something funny in that Hace vater.
