| A friend showed me a letter today she recieved for the City of Hays stating she cannot leave her polycart where they designated she sit such instead it has to removed each week within 24 hours of her trash being collected.
She also got the same brochure with the letter that all residents recieved when the poly cart was delivered but nothing in that brochure tells her why it has to be totally removed within 24 hours.
Does anyone out there know why? This gal has such a hard time moving the container when it becomes full and she does fill it totally each week. I can't imagine her attempting to get that polycart over snow drifts and ice if she has to move it constantly. I won't always be around to help her so I'm worried and she can't afford to hire anyway to just walk her polycart around her lot.
I'd like to know what you all know about this deal? Thanks.

| It's actually pretty simple.
The city does not want the big blue polycarts, which we paid for and continue to pay for, yet did not ask for, to be an eyesore to those who might visit the city. Yet those same visitors cannot drive down same streets during winter, because they won't remove snow, yet put plants near interstate that need hand watered, and build a visitors center in the most unfreindly parking area of town. What's not to understand?

Secondly, you people act like these carts weigh 2 tons when they are full. What the hell are you putting in them? Bricks? I honestly still dont get the continued bitching about the bloody carts. They are here and they arent going away, accept it and move on.......

| I agree with you luv2cook. Get over it and get on with it. It's still just a trashcan - be glad you are having your trash picked up. | |

| It has wheels. If a person knows that an elderly neighbor (or someone who is injured...whatever) is having a difficult time moving the cart, then why not help them on trash pick up day? | |

| Those wheels will come in quite handy when there is a foot of snow on the ground. | |

| We've had a foot of snow on the ground this winter, as well as ice. My 10 year old was able to move the trash cart to the street. | |

| I had an out of town visitor this morning and one of her first remarks about this town was, "What is with all these Blue Porta Pots doing at everyone's house?" She thought our sewers were maybe blocked. | |
