| The good news in all this is that government offices have been shut down since last Thursday by the back-to-back storms. That means they haven't been able to pass any legislation to screw us. Committee Press Blog | |

| Saw a piece on Fox News. They interviewed a Republican Senator from Wyoming about the days events. Apparently some students from his state had a tour of the White House scheduled. Since there were only essential persons manning the place there was no one to guide them. He took it upon himself to give them the tour himself.
Says something about the hardiness of Wyoming citizens showing up for a tour when the town was basically shut down by the storm.

Some guy on MSLSD was saying that the storm was proof of global warming. Tonight on Olbermann, "The sky is falling, and it's Bush's fault."

| it's called climatic shift. during a global warming period what is experienced isn't necessarily a "whole earth" warming pattern it is a warming in places where it used to be cold that spreads its influence among the rest of the worlds weather patterns. one degree of temperature change is the difference between snow and rain. the impact of which on our life here is most compelling. rain provides immediate moisture where snow provides sustaining. in many parts of the world this translates to eating or not eating. | |

So that explains the past ice ages? It's Bush's fault, right?

So that explains the past ice ages? It's Bush's fault, right? bush is only responsible for the mess he made and its future impact. whatever that may be. i am unqualified to assess that. early speculation on dinosaur extinction regarded a theory on the volumes of methane gases rising during this period and poisoning them in mass. overgrazing due to increased populations helped lead to this because less plants lead to less air purification. so they had a hand in their own demise. they continued on the path of excess without regard to future. we have harmed this planet. it is the only one most of us will ever know. we are overgrazing it in every way leaving the rest poisoned by toxins. that is a fact. not rhetoric. not a party issue, but rather a people issue. All people.

| Hays had a school superintendant from somewhere like Wyoming or Montana in the 70's. He refused to close the schools for snow in Hays because he said they never closed them where he was from. Talk about pissed off Hays kids. | |

New York City schools were closed on Wednesday for only the third time in 8 years.
