Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- Actor Pernell Roberts, who played the eldest Cartwright brother in TV's "Bonanza," died at his Malibu, California, home Sunday at 81, his lawyer said.

What a loss! He was the first to walk away from the Ponderosa and the last to die....RIP Ben,Hoss,Little Joe,Hop Sing,and now Adam.

David Canary

Canary currently lives with his wife, actor and singer Maureen Maloney, in Connecticut. They have two children, Christopher and Kate, both now young adults. David also has another daughter, Lisa, from his previous marriage to Julie Anderson.

Now 71, the actor continues to work full-time on All My Children, often fitting in a stage production during the summer.

Well too bad. At least Pernell didn't die young like two of his co-stars.

I gotta feel sorry for Canary. To go through school with the name Canary, then to be told he'll be called Candy in a western??? And now he's in a soap opera.
