| We've got 2 cats, a brother and sister, that we've had since they were 6wks old. They're 3 yrs. old, now. They are indoor/outdoor cats. A few months ago they started using the basement floor (carpeted) as their litter box. They've each got their own boxes that are kept clean. Outside of getting rid of them, do you have any tips on how we can stop this behavior? I'm getting tired of lugging out the carpet cleaner.
Thanks in advance.
BTW... they were both fixed at 6 months old.

| Or you could lay a grid of metal under the carpet and connect it to a fence charger. | |

Then they pee in my hallway upstairs. Grrrrrr!!! When I toss them outside, they climb my screen doors until someone lets them in. Rotten, stinkin' cats!

| Suz we just had an issue with one of our cats, who used the litter box just fine and then started peeing on clothes. We took him in to the vet and found that he had a horrible UTI, and that cats will be very strange about where they pee etc... Have you taken them to the vet? Are they pooping in the litter boxes? Might be somethin to check in to. | |

| They poop outside, in the rock "garden". We've got a lot of strays in our town, so maybe they've been exposed to something. I don't know. | |

| We've had a couple of hawks flying around, lately. One was chasing a grackle on Sunday, and they flew into my picture window. It was pretty funny... but, I digress. I have this vision of one of the hawks grabbing a cat and flying off, into the sunset, like the flying monkeys in Wizard of Oz. I'm at my wits end with these two. | |

| I would definately get them both checked for UTI. Our cat had that and was peeing in our laundry baskets. Months went by scolding him and nothing changed, finally I took him in because he was acting stange, and he has a severe UTI. | |

Oh... no... I'm sorry. As much as the pee'ing irritates me, they are part of the family, so we want to get this figured out. Thanks, all.

Careful there. One of them cats might be a witch and turn you into a newt. Besides, they get pissed when sacrificed. A toy poodle will whimper and yelp as the blade goes in instead of trying to rip your eyes out through your rectum. *Note to readers* The above was posted only as humor. I never sacrifice toy poodles. I just growl and make threatening faces till they wet themselves.

| Suzy I hear ya.
My daughter had a cat this way. The only solution I could come up with was to make her stay in a cat carrier when she was indoors unless she was closely supervised while eating or sitting in the room with us. She adjusted to this routine fairly easily. Keep water in the carrier. They won't pee the carrier if they can possibly help it.
